Lewis is British and winning, who do you think our commentators (and other successful British drivers) are going to show support for? If your knowledge of F1 is beyond reproach, you'll realise that unless the British press suck the actual semen from his two testicles (how I miss my own) he threatens to never speak to them again.

Here he finds issue with our Press when they question his use of Snapchat - his reaction shows little respect for the people who also work in F1:

I see something different and it's not as if I'm alone - I too used to think Lewis was brilliant. However, you seem to be in denial and that's good, it's the beginning of your journey to recovery. I suspect you'll cry a little and may even flirt with supporting Stroll, which you must resist. This is all normal. If you need someone to talk to or just a hand to hold as you burn your Hamilton memorabilia whilst humming along to The Chain I'm here for you. yes

I'm off to watch the highlights from David Coulthard's career...back in ten.
You are talking bk.

I don't really like Hamilton (or what I see of him on TV, media etc anyway) but there's no point denying his talent as a driver.

I really felt for Seb yesterday. The emotion was palpable and he was just dreadfully unlucky. Quite why there's the obvious Ch4 bias toward Hamilton and the writing off of Seb's driver championship challenge I don't know? There's still an awful long way to go.

I never liked Seb when he was at Redbull. No idea why really? In recent years though, he's just matured and appears to be a genuinely nice / funny guy.
Same for me. I did find it amusing that a German talking to an Italian team reverted to English to have a sweary rant. hehe

Hamilton's 'thanking god for his win' stuff grates with me (as it does when any sportsman does it), probably because I'd spent yesterday morning visiting my Aunt on the cancer ward in hospital. Y'know, this god chap must have strange priorities. irked

That’s another thread entirely. But, I agree; religion is a load of bks. Again, I’m able to ignore it, amongst other things; and focus on driver skill, of which, I’d say Hamilton is above anyone else on the grid.

I watched the C4 highlights as I was out during the day and forgot to the record the Sky race (I should use Series Link, I know). I don't remember C4 "writing off of Seb's driver championship challenge".
Who said what, specifically?
I'll need to go back and take a look tbh, but it was in the minutes after Seb went off. I may have been a little harsh but it certainly felt akin to an 'that's the end' type comment.

When looking at that incident it’s worth considering what happened immediately beforehand, which was Jenson being incredibly conservative (or making a mistake) at the chicane and Lewis being hugely faster out of it and closing the gap between them well before the braking zone.

Lewis could have gone right but I suspect he would also have found a McLaren there with its driver on the radio asking “What was he doing?”

I suspect that it was this incident and the post race McLaren reaction that made him realise that McLaren (at the very least) didn’t love him as much as he thought....
If Button hadn’t gone on to brilliantly win the race the narrative may have been different.

Still it all turned out just great for Lewis, for McLaren and Jenson not so much.

Regards Mike

Everyone makes mistakes.

Most of us would struggle to select 1st and pull away, let alone put a lap in.

From what I remember of Button's comments after the race, he thought that Hamilton would stay right so he went left. In the replays you could see Button checking the left mirror and start moving left before Hamilton was visible through the spray. Unfortunately Button didn't check again until it was too late.

Ah racing incident and one that makes the viewing fun. That does remind me of spa 2010 though....

Also a racing incident and also good fun to watch!

There are some bitter middled aged men on PH.

Crack on Lewis, successful, doesn't care about negativity and wears what he wants with his millions.

If the angry old men actually shopped elsewhere other than Next, or safer ranges of up market brands you might actually love life Abit more.
My image of the average Hamilton hater is someone who spends their life being dressed by a mother or girlfriend, has a father who displaced all their family love, and feels embarrassed when they stop at traffic lights because the car in the next lane might hear them accidentally enjoying some Radio 1 Xtra.

Reading the full article; I can’t see how what he says is wrong. Toward the bottom of the article; Brundle, independently, says the exact same thing.

There was a comment - something like "could Vettel have just thrown away the championship?" or similar words.

I did say the same thing to my wife a moment before it was said on the C4 coverage. It really could be a big difference - after 10 races Seb was 8 points ahead, after 11, Hamilton is 17 ahead. That is significant and given previous seasons could well be bigger than the difference between 1 and 2 in the WDC

Re money, I thought these drivers did it for the sport? Throw Leclerc (difficult to do in reality)/Russell/Wehrlein in the car and save £40M...
Tell Mercedes and ask for a consultancy fee; you’ll be quids in mate.

hehe
You're dealing with the Lewis Hamilton PR guy of PistonHeads here. I visit this thread once every 6 weeks or so and LDN is always relentlessly defending Hamilton's honour, typically singing off with hehe

I expect he'll still be here defending him from someone else when I next visit in September.
