We were invited to Hockenheim - it was refreshing to witness some tier 2 cars getting good results.

It's great for the sport.
Don’t change mate; I enjoy your bitterness and irrational hate.

Looks like we're going to have to wait until 2020 for the big battle

Do you mean 2021? Top 3 at summer break means Max stays at Red Bull another year...

I think.

Rubbish. Max is the best driver of 2019 according to many in the paddock.

Completely destroyed his teammate and is close to taking 2nd in the Championship from a car that is far superior.

Tier 1 +

I’d have pit him number 1 until the last race....Lewis showed a new level. Honours even going into the mid season break I think. It will be interesting to see who can take another step up in a few weeks

...
This sounds like personal opinion dressed up as something else. Who are these 'many'? - can you link some quotes and statements saying as much? By the way; I'm not disagreeing with the assertion - just that I've not seen 'many' people say that at all. Rosberg said something along those lines but then changed his mind again...

Post 'em up!

Max just lucked into the 2nd best car on the grid, with Bottas being so poor he might be sacked then Max is also lucky he might get 2nd in the Championship. He's also massively lucky Ferrari have made such a mess of this season, between the drivers crashing, bad strategy or reliability problems. Basically he's just lucky to be where he is.

Am I doing it right?

One of the greatest? Yes. The greatest? Can’t possibly say that. I could narrow it down to Clark, Fangio, Schumacher, Senna and Hamilton though

I agree with that, but I remove Senna and Schumacher from my 'best of all-time' list for 'red card' offenses.

And I say that as someone who has a framed photo of Senna on the living room wall.

I'd have Prost before Schumacher- raced against champion-level team mates and beat them, as has Hamilton.

Schumi, Vettel and I'm sure many others rarely had a top-drawer teammate to beat.

Yes, you're absolutely spot on. In fact the driver has no input or influence whatsoever, apart from all the things that go wrong. Car, tyres, pit wall strategy, when they're not right then its all the drivers fault.

I think that's how it goes.

Horner and his band of pundits don't count as many in the paddock.

I cant see how you can ever have 'The Greatest' or 'GOAT' as you have to judge the driver based on the era they were driving in. Hamilton is already one of the greatest and whilst he's broken records and will continue to break records I cant see how you can ever elevate him beyond that and put him above drivers who raced in eras of massively less safe cars and much fewer races each year.
