This is it, the bottom line. Mass hysteria or not, life has changed. It got very real very quickly and the little things we do in life, simple pleasures are altering before our eyes.
I think at this point its unfair to suggest people are over reacting.
F1 teams haven't followed PH threads and sided with the naysayers, they have realised that health and safety of staff is important.

Wider picture now is like someone said all the people who make money from sporting events, the cafes, hotels etc etc.....
That is ultimately what will possibly tip things into carnage territory.

I am gutted about the events being shelved, i have paid for sky and bt sport for MotoGP, I have no glee in this, but it was getting obvious that F1 could not just blindly carry on.
No one has done anything based on "well some people on forums think this looks bad on us"....
It is not any posters on here's fault they shelved it...

So far only on the BBC. Nowhere else as yet.

BBC say two F1 officials told them it was off, Sky say one Team Principal confirms it is still on after an FIA meeting he was at. Cant tell who's info is more recent.

No way of knowing until we hear from the FIA or F1.

I think the F1 meeting was 45 mins ago and the BBC stuff is abut 11 mins ago. Still doesn't really help us smile

Is Lewis done for? Another year older. The other teams have a huge amount of time to catch merc up, merc might bail out. F1 might not restart in its current guise for all we know. Also his motivation could waiver - psyched up for this year in training then it all gets taken away.

I reckon he’s had it and the records won’t be broken.

Speculation - who the hell knows?
His isolation is likely to be more comfortable than yours or mine - and good luck to him.

Clickbait but I genuinely believe this could screw up the roll he was on. That’s pretty major

I've thought and said the same. If it transpires that he never gets as good of a chance as he would have had this year, that'll be pretty crushing for him no doubt.

But in the end, there is a degree of good fortune in all aspects of F1 and life in general. He's had some races and arguably championships that were swung his way by good fortune in addition to his own very hard work of course. By the same token, like any other driver he must expect sometimes fortune will work against him.

Not a chance. Once normality returns ALL the drivers will be hungry and for Lewis it will be a return to business as usual.

edit for speeling and punktuashon errors.

Hamilton's success depends on the performance of his team as ever. Judging by pre-season testing he shouldn't give up hope just yet!

Anyway he's 35 years old so if Schumi's records are what he's after (a suggestion he has always denied) then he has time.

The postponement of the 2021 regulations removes a risk, too- you wouldn't bet against Mercedes to build a great racing car but the current regs are running another year and unless Red Bull are right on top of Mercedes that extends Hamilton's window of opportunity too.

I think lockdown has been messing with his head a bit:

I'm not exactly sure what he expects a load of people who don't live or work in the US or have anything to do with the events to come out and say?

Or he could just be disgusted by the whole thing, and might have expected some similar sentiments from his peers?
