McLaren-Ferrari is so out of the box I love the idea. Make it happen!

Ron will be spitting feathers hehe
McLaren-Alfa sounds nearly as good.

Admittedly it's for upgrades/new parts.

They were evaluating the new parts on FP 1 and then going to decide if they were going to use them. No doubt they're turned down to give them time to evaluate.

If it was an evaluation run, you would wind them up to 11 and see what happens. biggrin

It turns out all the rumours of McLaren moving on from Honda due to poor performance is not true. Apparently the amount of replacement engines Honda are having to make are pushing the company near bankruptcy, so they told McLaren to try and find engines somewhere else.

I do not believe that for even a nanosecond. Unless each new part costs £100 million. Complete bullst IMO. The ramblings of a delusional anti-Honda fan.

Agreed, sounds like bullst to me. Aside from anything else it'd be hugely irresponsible for the board to let that happen.

Remember, this is the team that felt they couldn't justify a 2009 F1 team when the downturn hit - at least in part it was done to save jobs from redundancy.

To suggest they are now pushing the company to insolvency to go racing is highly unlikely.

All true. The money needing to make the parts are a drop compared to the development costs.

£3.5B profit in FY16. So unlikely.

Sorry, maybe I should have made it more obvious it was a very bad joke since it's another weekend at the back of the grid... sillyboxedin

I got the joke NRS!

At this rate they'll end up having built more engines for McLaren than the Honda Jazz.

Is that timing trap at the end of the straight?

I wonder what speed the new NSX road car would get up to at that point?

Not sure where than image is from, but FP2 only shows Alonso still not fastest, but not too far away

Suggests Vandoorne was either doing something odd or wasn't running flat out.

Handy chart, thanks!

I remain very, very impressed by Ocon.

I think he and Max will be the next big rivalry. Once they get the old guys (Hamilton, Vettel etc) out the way!
