Will they really take the rear wheel guards away?
Thought they were introduced to stop cars getting snagged in each other's wheels and being launched into barriers and catch fences?
Rear wheel guards, just big pieces of carbon fibre that kept falling off when touched causing unnessesary yellow flags and the danger of serious injury if a driver hit one. And they didn't work, they just broke when hit and the car with forward momentum still took off. The ones in front of the rear wheels, which form part of the main bodywork/sidepod not prone to breaking off if breathed on remain to prevent flipping with interlocking wheels when side by side. Dario again - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQs7oAuYZEY

Yes. The renders of the red cars are complete - the rear bodywork is gone for 2018. It never worked properly anyway.Thought they were introduced to stop cars getting snagged in each other's wheels and being launched into barriers and catch fences?

I read that Alonso had an engine glitch that hobbled his front row chances. Gotta chuckle if that's true...maybe he has no mechanical sympathy
It was a turbo overboost on lap 2 and given that the front row at indy is 3 cars, probably did scupper him. He reckoned it was a loss of about .3 to .4mph from lap 2 alone.glazbagun said:
Am I right in thinking it's lights out at 17:30 UK time, so I can watch the Monaco procession and then go to a BT sports pub and watch the Indy 500 afterwards?
http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/events/in...That means it'll be engines started at around 5.14pm. UK and green flag before 5:30pm

There seems to be a lot of Spanish people paying attention to it due to Alonso on the Youtube site (albeit not showing the actual race).

Missed the first one but Graham Rahal is carrying one of the two visor cams in the race.

Coverage on ABC already started, hour of pre-race interviews, military displays and recaps of previous races.
I was looking for it on the pay channels and couldn't find it, then realised it was on free network tv Edit: Are we allowed to post links to streams here for those who aren't stateside?
