If the allegations are proven, the banks could force the sale of his assets to settle or contribute towards what's owed, which will include his share of Force India.

Rumour is that Force India has been fro sale for some time with a price tag of £250 million. Optimistic at best is what I would call that price tag, be lucky to get even half that even with the allegations against him.

If thats the case then maybe a cheap way for VW Group (through one of the brands Audi/Porsche/Lamborghini/Bugatti/Bentley/SEAT/Skoda) to get into F1?

This was apparently planned visit to a Police Station. India made an extradition request some time ago after Mallya skipped the country (it would appear he was tipped off).

He's been bailed.

He's going to try very hard to stay out of India.

What it means for the team - who knows. Subrata Roy isn't exactly in a position to take it all over either.

Why would they want to do that?

Renault and Honda are demonstrating that it's very difficult to produce anything that can challenge the power of the Mercedes engine. Ferrari have taken 3 years to get somewhere close and only seem to be making a decent job of this season because they've managed to do a better job of tyre management with their chassis design. If Mercedes get that sorted, they'll bugger off into the distance again.

It's a no-win situation for VAG. If they do it and win, it's because they have bottomless pockets, if they do it and fail like Honda (and Renault, to a lesser extent) they'll throw hundred of millions away and come out looking foolish.

Don't forget they're still spending significant amounts of money on the Porsche WEC campaign and Audi in DTM.

It would make sense if one of the above were to be interested in F1.

But after BMW, Toyota, Honda etc. would any new manufacture want to enter F1.

I really hope Force India can stay in F1 as they really do bring a lot to the grid.

To lose them would be a big loss.

Well there was an F1 engine meeting held in Paris a few weeks ago which was to discuss the F1 engine regs from 2020 onwards.

There was confirmed reports that the Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali was there in attendance (sent by VAG to join the discussion).

Maybe if they purchase a current F1 team behind the scenes and also start developing their 2020 engine we might see them appear.

Every time a team comes up for sale or the engine regulations change, people always start the rumours about VAG joining the party.

They never do and never really seem to have a lot of ambition to do so, unless it absolutely nails their marketing intentions - we may have seen them enter if 4 pot hybrid turbos had been passed under current regulations. Similarly, in 2020, unless the engine regulations fit exactly what they have for sale in the showrooms, they won't do it.

If FI is for sale, then wouldn't one of the rumoured potential Manor buyers be sniffing around?

I just find it funny that this team was originally Jordan GP then Midland F1 then Spyker F1 then Force India.

They have seemed to do very well with the restricted budget compared to the other teams around them.

I still prefer the livery from the launch car tho.

Right now it looks vomit

I bet they are waiting for Vijay Mallya to be forced to sell his share and pick it up on the cheap.

Or maybe the same legal problems that Manor had (lawsuit from Jules Bianchi family) has scared them away from Force India (Mallya dodgy fraud deals)?

They did well as Jordan in relation to their budget, Midland and Spyker were both a joke.

I'd imagine that Mallya's asking price of £250 million is putting people off. That's something like 10x the amount that could have bought Manor.

I think its likely they will have to send the whole team to India including the drivers if he is guilty as way of reparation.
We will only see them all once a year if they put the India F1 race on again.
