Not sure why they said he struggled. His long runs looked alright to me...ok seemed happier on the super soft than the ultra soft but still...
These are some I just analysed:
Sorry, the plot is quite messy as I threw it together quickly. Some observations:
1) Bottas is looking more comfortable on the softest compound than he's ever looked this year.
2) Oh hello, a McLaren on a long run. It has been a while. Pace has a semblance of respectability in the midfield.
3) Williams heading the midfield pack.
4) Was the Ferrari actually experiencing some deg there? Interesting, if so! But pace looks about par with the Merc.

Croft has never heard of the 90% rule for race classification.
How long has he been commentating?
He's heard of it, but didn't understand why it existed, Maurice Hamilton enlightened him.How long has he been commentating?
On a related note his view on "give 20th place a point because they ewre consistent" is stupid. He said he was happy for 1st to get 40 points so there was a difference.
All it does is devalue a point in the championships. Lets give the winner 1000 points and 20th 100.. does it improve anything ? not really.
The only thing that might have an impact is closing the gaps, e.g. points are currently:
25 | 18 | 15 | 12 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 1 |
if that was changed to (say)
25 | 23 | 21 | 19 | 17 | 15 | 13 | 11 | 9 | 7 |
it could have a significant effect on closing the field.
IMHO the point scoring doesn't need to be changed, the point of a race is to go faster than the other guy, not be slow but finish consistently. The suggestion is akin to the stupid stories you see about school sports days where the kids get told to all cross the line together so no-one loses etc.

The TV Graphics yesterday on FP2 were interesting. on C4 they showed the Engine component usage for some of the Cars.
Is there a Link to the F1 Website with each cars usage so far this season?
On the FIA website, link from the first post http://www.fia.com/events/fia-formula-one-world-ch...Is there a Link to the F1 Website with each cars usage so far this season?
Go to technical reports section, document 4 gives usage going in to this event. Every time a component is changed a new document will appear documenting it - see documents 9 and 13.

I did once put up the idea for a series of awards, rather like the Oscars, on an F1 fanzine site. I did it for fun but it got quite a lot of support. There was a lot of ironic replies, most wasted talent springs to mind, but there were some good ideas, with rewards/points given. Best newcomer was good for the driver, but the one for teams would be gathering dust I know, but might have promise if there was going to be any reorganisation. There were some along the lines of the WDC in the sense that they were purely totals: most positions made in a race and the season.
I used some of the ideas in an F1 Fantasy I used to run. I had a man of the weekend award which got lots of arguments. There was another website with gave man of the race and I pinched that one for another reward.
One which caused no arguments was fastest lap. In those days there was refuelling so it sometimes was a bonus point for someone who was out of the race before the final tyre stop.
There was fastest number two driver; not quite what it might seems as I sectioned the drivers into two for selection reasons, but I think for this season it might well have legs.
I like the idea of lowering the differences in scores. Perhaps starting at 15 points and going down to 1 for 10th. I wonder if having just the first car of a team gaining points would encourage having a definite #2. Otherwise it has a lot going for it I think.
Came across this. It's Rob Wilson and Peter Windsor talking about the driving of Kimi, Seb and Valtteri. Have a lot of time for those two and some very interesting info that seems to mesh well with what I've observed looking at the telemetry of these guys this year.

Looks to me like Ferrari have really pulled this one out of the bag. The car has that special something and is now the best on the grid. I'm sure there'll be tracks where the Merc gets close or edges it but... there's a new horse in town. It's only taken them 10 years but fair play.
But it seems to be a bit more fragile. Might be a tortoise and hare championship. FP3:
I'll believe it when the order is like that at the end of Q3, but it does look like the Ferrari is getting the tyres switched on much better/quicker than the Mercedes, which was kind of indicated by the long runs yesterday where Vettel/Ferrari looked like the only ones who were getting the tyres to degrade.

In FP3 it looked as though the Ultrasofts on the Mercedes were going to pieces before the end of the fast lap, reading between the lines it seemed like Bottas was front limited and Hamilton rear limited. Must be awkward for Mercedes to be experiencing this immediately before qually. I suppose at this point it's largely down to the drivers to adapt.
