So I'm still right about button over vandoorne! Jb qualifies ahead of vandoorne in a car he had never driven and hasn't driven a F1 car since November

Yet vandoorne puts it in the wall!

Ok the penalty for jb is unlucky but to me he has made vandoorne look amateur! And mclarens board of directors must look at it as well!

Vandoorne can't even match alonso when the chips are down!

I hope jb gets points tomorrow and cements all that

I think Ferrari will let whoever is leading at the start will get the (as long as there are no strange goings on) win as they'll want the 1-2 more than WDC points for Seb also there'll be a Mercedes snapping at their heels so I don't see them having the chance to play games.
I hope so. OK Vettel is 50 odd points head but there are still 14 races to go after tomorrow, so it is a bit early to be issuing team orders, one bad race for Vettel & Lewis would see Raikkonen & Bottas right back in it.... but who knows with Ferrari...

I can't see Kimi being the type of driver to sign a no.2 status contract so I assume he is expecting fair treatment... whether he will get it or not is another matter... but at this stage of his career he is the type of driver that could just decide to clear off mid season if he doesn't get the treatment he wants... so things could be interesting after tomorrow.

How do you consider it trolling?

If we base it on driving and not taking into account penalties because of car or team issues then jenson is p9 and didn't crash.

Stoffel crashed, and he incurred a driving penalty due to driving into massa and the last gp

Will Buxton.

(He's a sort of NBCSN version of Ted Kravitz, for those who haven't seen it)

Will Buxton used to provide the sole commentary on the GP2 races before being joined by Jereome d'Ambriosio or Davide Valsecci and hearing him on his own taking to himself was quite funny.

Dunno why you've got such a downer on Stoffel is all.

Pretty much everybody agreed that if the two were close on pace then neither driver will have embarrassed themselves regardless of which way around they are. Vandoorne made an uncharacteristic unforced error but if he was going to have a crash he did it at the right time. The pace of the two drivers was similar.

It will be interesting, but not that exciting, to see who gets through the first corner. Bottas will have the option of trying to split the two Ferraris with a hail Mary pit stop.

Behind it will be much of a muchness I fear.

How many laps before LH collides with someone/something? I'll give it five.

Well he'll need to do something. Points don't go down to 14 do they?

(Genuine question - I lose track of the points positions as the years go by)

2nd place usually gets a good run at turn 1 obviously there will be a pile up the cars are wider and will be alongside each other. I predict 3 safety cars and a red flag

Based on what we saw in Spain, Bottas isn't brave enough on the braking to get by a Ferrari. I only hope he doesn't take Raikonnen out again.

Hamilton IMO will have one of his anonymous weekends, he's already given up on it and will trundle round for a points finish.

I just don't like him and I think he's over rated, even k mag and palmer beat him and they don't even drive for top teams, ok mclaren isn't doing very well but I still class them as a top team, and I thought how Ron treated jb was wrong, and I actually think after helping to develop the car in hondas first years of it was to come good this year which it was meant to I believed that alonso and jenson deserved the car they had worked hard to help create and for Ron to do what he did was wrong!

You don't have a rational reason to dislike Vandoorne, your problem is clearly with McLaren's underperformance and the fact is that KMag and Palmer have had a better car than the McLaren every race of the season so far with the possible exception of Spain and Monaco.

Great qualifying session - mixed bag of results - and awesome result for Kimi.

Can't help to wonder how Alonso would have fared in Monaco quali today - 6th or 7th perhaps?

Stoffel had Jenson beaten on his debut, scoring McLaren's first point of the 2016 season. Perhaps we'll see him perform the same feat tomorrow.

Any reason why Hamilton shouldn't just pit after a lap and stay out for the rest of the race?

Assuming his car is driveable he should be back on the tail-enders in no time, he can then pick off a few and make up places whilst the others stop.

The grey unknown is a safety car, which seems more than likely at some stage.

I wonder if the Merc team will find something broken on Hamilton's car.

My guess is he'all start on supersofts, get onto the Ultrasofts early and then hope for people clearing out of the way in front of him with a safety car stop.

I still don't see him above about P8 though. Terrible weekend so far. I bet he wishes he was at Indy!

Don't think we watched the same race tbh?!?

Yes vandoorne started ahead of jb but in the race he slipped back to 16th whereas jenson went upto 7th did he not?? The car them broke down got jb that wasn't rly having him beat was it? Then with others out as well vandoorne lucked into the points,

I'm also not dissapointed k mag n palmer are doing better even if mclaren were in the top 5 I still don't rate vandoorne, I don't think he's on the same level as verstappen or sainz and I think werlhein is a better prospect too
