We all know how well comebacks go. Still waiting for Hakkinen to come back from his sabbatical. Rosberg's dream was to become F1 champion, he's done that and he's moved on.

Highly doubt it'll happen.

Some don't . Lauda came back in 81 and won another , his third , championship in '84. Prost had a year off in 92 and won WDC in 93 . And Raikkonen hasn't been too shabby since his return either.

There is no way Rosberg does Indy. His brains are bigger than his balls. I can't see him coming back either. Which team would take him on knowing that if the pressure ramps up he may bail out half way through a contract? He won a well deserved championship, and congratulations to him, he needs to enjoy his retirement.

It won't happen but I would love it if he was able to do it as Hamilton's face would be look like a slapped arse laugh

Darling you are omiting LHs various component issues and various changes pre-grid that had to made too...

Wouldn't surprise me if TW is eluding to Nico returning to Mercedes.

NR has a child with another on the way, LH does not.

By all accounts people I've spoken to have said that having a child has been a life changing experience for them. Certainly I've observed mates who were red blooded bachelors beforehand change their demeanor overnight.

F1 is also a dangerous sport where any accident could spell death or serious injury. It's also a sport where I suspect a care free testosterone-heavy fearless attitude is critical to winning... which is not easy (impossible?) to do if you've got a dependent child. It is also safe to say that challenging LH really took it out of him physically and mentally.

I honestly don't understand why some people feel that he is obliged to keep on racing, if nothing else but to allow LH to best him. Those people seem to seek some kind of bizarre gratification from it. I get that the champion quitting deprives the audience of seeing him defend his title, but the people who seem to almost demand he do it seem already convinced that NR is champion only by virtue of LH's misfortune anyway. Again I come back to the fact that it seems these people just want him publicly humiliated, for some perverse reason.

He should return to Mercedes in a advisory/management role - that would be fun!

Why?

I really don't think a multiple world champion, in different cars, who will be the all-time pole position leader (soon) and has Schumacher in his sights for all-time wins would give a crap about it.

to be fair, fastest laps mean shag all.....especially when youre cruising around at the front. theyre usually set by the guy chasing first place, or someone further down after a bit of glory

The re-introduction of a world championship point for fastest lap might help motivate some drivers

Maybe Toto is trying to stir up things in the Ferrari camp, distract the drivers and the team a little?

This season it'd help us break some lap records too, Canada was on the table...

Anything to get them out of cruise mode. Perhaps an average of your 10 fastest laps, or 5 consecutive laps may stop it becoming just a low fuel single lap blast at the end.

There must be some weight to the story otherwise why would Toto come and admit his thoughts on Nico?
