Now he thinks the penalty points system should be scrapped. Is it because he's on 8 points and likely to get a race ban if does one more stupid thing?

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/verstappen-pena...
He seems to have issues with the rules of the sport, which are as old as the sport, and for that reason he's picking up the points intended for repeat offenders.
Yeah, as old as the sport. ......

“Penalty points were introduced for the 2014 season as a way of punishing repeat offenders, with drivers who accumulate more than 12 points automatically banned from the next race.
The concept gained momentum after Romain Grosjean picked up a one-race ban in 2012, for triggering a first-corner accident at Spa which was influenced by his record of incidents in previous races.”

He's not picking up points for picking up points, he's picking up points for straight-lining corners, pushing people off track, that sort of really basic stuff that's been around since day one. He reckons these rules are ruining the racing.

Not sure what to think of his reaction after the race. Luckily Ocon didn't reply aggressively.

People like to say that he is a bit like Senna but I see more of N.Piquet into him.

He likes to think he's like Senna, but his attitude and temper will cost him championships if he doesn't stop it.

You didn't see Vettel kick off like that when Verstappen ran him off the road, but the man child thinks he's God's gift to F1. Red Bull aren't helping him change his attitude either.

Can't help but think RedBull are cultivating this image in order to make him the "bad boy" of F1 for PR reasons...

Verstappen appears to be his own worst enemy.
The whole handbags thing after the race was pretty pathetic as well, as was Horner’s and Marko’s comments about it.

He’s a great and exciting driver, but he’s very had to like at the moment.

Showed a lack of maturity and class. I was expecting him to get one squarely on the nose and end up on his butt.

Would have been well deserved for the unlikeable bully.

Has anyone tallied how many points he's possibly lost this season, with all the penalties and collisions?

He is a great talent but by gum he seems to have either completely forgotten or has no clue in how to do wheel to wheel racing without all the collisions and penalties.

Can’t stand the bloke. He’s a petulant foot-stomping narcissist who thinks the entire weekend should revolve around him. Crashing into Ocon and then physically assualting him in front of FIA officials sealed the deal for me.

He’s an amazing driver but I wouldn’t care in the least if he never won a championship.

Sounds like World Championship winning material then.

F1 has been full of this sort of behavior for years and its normally the passionate ones that do it.

Senna, Piquet, Alonso etc.

Just look at this. biggrin

The problem nowadays is that everyone is so sensitive about stuff like this happening it's looked at badly.

When he first came into the sport he was a talented breath of fresh air, but his behaviour this season has been that of a petulant delusional child.

Whilst I quite like his confidence (every driver at the top of their game needs it), he clearly needs to be mindful of the company he is in when he is behaving the way that he is.

He has gone from a firm favourite of mine to being somewhat of an annoyance on screen.

They are saying that his behaviour is reminiscent of Senna, but I just cannot see that. The only thing similar is that Max believes he is as good, if not better than Senna.

Exactly.

Think the issue is he overtook Hamilton which upset a few. biggrin

Ocon just showed why he is struggling for a seat in 2019.

Makes Bottas look good.

I agree.
People get their knickers in a twist easily these days when something out of the norm happens.

The FIA punished Ocon for his mistake. Max felt aggrieved that Ocon's mistake lost him a race win. Cue some heated discussion and teenage pushing in weigh bridge. Max is duly served a punishment by FIA.
No actual punches such as you highlight with other drivers. If TV viewers want hairy chested punch-ups in sport they can catch it in many others including Ice Hockey.

Exactly.

But in the heat of the moment, you can see why Max was so upset.

Red Bull should have made sure Max was prevented from approaching Ocon when he was clearly losing the plot.

He comes from a family of convicted thugs, so his behaviour should be no surprise to anyone. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,

You can see why that is being thrown around.

But it was just a case of a very stupid move.

The only person who thought Verstappen was in the wrong was another Mercedes employee who did gain a win.

He's good for F1, talented driver, slightly unhinged, it's exactly what it needs.

Let's hope Ocon and Ver become title rivals in seasons to come, Ocon can have Lewis' seat when he throws the towel in biggrin
