Privately funded circuit, substantially less in cost than the refused £433million project in Wales.

this not so good though - "Noise restrictions will limit the venue to only 12 days of racing per year with a maximum of four Saturday and Sunday meetings allowed."

HOW is this a £29M project when Circuit of Wales was £400M plus?

Maybe the guy in charge doesn't have a big garden? biggrin

Looking at that pic though it doesn't look like it's a circuit built to the standards required of MAJOR race series such as MotoGP and F1, nor does it have a huge surrounding hi-tech industrial park.

That said, I can't see how that would only be £29million. Nice layout though.

This.

Getting planning permission is not the same as building a circuit.

May well happen.

a lot of the cost of making a track to the standard of CoW is the infrastructure that has to be in place.

IIRC when there were a few feasibility studies going on about how Brands could hold a GP again one of the immediate issues was that there was not enough power (solvable - the Wing has generators) and not enough water. That's before you look at the buildings that are mandated and expected.

Again IIRC it cost Silverstone £2m just to tarmac a load of their car parks after the April date sham.

One final gem is the land area needed as well. Brand and all the land that goes with it would fit inside the old (pre wing) Silverstone GP track.

All in i thin that that £29m with well rise to £35m by the time the final bills are paid

I hope this does work out, Will end up in more trips across home from the mainland.

Always a great bunch of guys at Kirkistown when I used to go, This would spark some interest,
Especially if the BTCC plan went ahead.

Look at the guys track record, int he article I read he has tried at least twice maybe more to develop places for motorsport and none of them have worked.

Probably easier in Ireland than other countries, but still hard.

Ireland need better, they have big drivers and riders in top UK series like BTCC and even more so BSB.

Palmer doesn't like going anywhere but his tracks for BSB, he even goes to bloody Holland which is shambolic when they don't go to Croft or Ireland in the UK, covering important market areas.

Mondello is tricky, but should be there, but it seems BTCC and BSB don't want to be there

Surely no-one can be surprised.

No-on, anywhere will build a new race track in the UK ever again, it just wont fly.
