Then I wouldn’t worry about it until then. By the time the next year rolls around, another deal will have been sorted. My prediction is it will continue to be on terrestrial tv in upcoming years.
Or accessible via F1s own streaming service. You might need a proxy to make it work, but they will have their own service by 2019 IIRC.If there's to be any free-to-air or internet broadcast of F1 races, it'll be Sky selling those rights, not "F1 itself".

They will likely GEO-IP block UK users to respect their deal with SKY, but they will have a service that you could probably watch with some work arounds.
This is about the casual viewer anyway. F1 hardcore people will watch it regardless.
So would people pay £20pm for F1 on Sky? They have a Sky Sports Mix channel which is free to all Sky subscribers and often shows the F1 when Channel 4 have a live race on. Sure it requires a Sky subscription, but you don't need the basic pack and another £18 for F1, then another £6 for HD?

If you want to watch knocked off F1 coverage, why bother with an international stream rather than just using one of the many illicit Sky streams?

I just want a reliable, HQ stream that I can access wherever I am, including when working abroad.
I am happy to pay for it. I just a) dont want to give money to Sky and b) don't want a sky subscription.

UK is a small market though in the scheme of things.
Compared to.......?It may be physically smaller than, say, south east Asia - in terms of head count. But is probably much richer.
On a bang for buck basis- it may only be second to Germany.
But that is ultimately a guess as I haven't a clue how it works!
I wonder what the trends in F1 TV viewing figures are generally. When I was younger, loads of people used to follow it but now I rarely meet people who watch it. My kids and none of their friends seem remotely interested.
This season will be the first ever for me where I’m not going to have access to the races live as I’m cancelling my sky subscription.
I’d happily pay for an F1 subscription that I could use internationally, like fans above, but not as part of a sky package.

You can still do Now TV race by race. Or watch a hooky stream. This season will be the first ever for me where I’m not going to have access to the races live as I’m cancelling my sky subscription.

But, who thinks long term these days.
Liberty, but they are hamstrung by short-termist Bernie deals.El stovey said:

You’ll still have access to 10 or so live races on Ch4 for 2018 season... then you’ll need to make some decisions This season will be the first ever for me where I’m not going to have access to the races live as I’m cancelling my sky subscription.

So £240 a year for *maybe* 50% of the races? Too steep.A streaming service would be the way to go, it's criminal that CVC didn't consider it in the first place really, looking for the short-term buck from Sky to tie the rights down.

I was reminded the other day that they did invest heavily in a high quality digital service that went to every track - over £100m in 1996. Ahead of its time, but they got very badly burned.A streaming service would be the way to go, it's criminal that CVC didn't consider it in the first place really, looking for the short-term buck from Sky to tie the rights down.

In terms of streaming in the UK, there is the option of NowTV passes, which are essentially Sky F1 coverage without a subscription and only available via streaming, but it doesn't get around the "you need to pay Sky for coverage" issue.

Absolutely not. I've got a BT service and a friend has Sky a few houses down the road. His internet is crap even though he's on the top subscription, TV's expensive compared to what I pay as well. I know he's not the only one either. So, really, the question is would people be willing to ditch their provider to watch F1 on Sky? My answer is no.
