Melbourne Grand Prix - Best viewing with general admission?

I just so happen to be in Melbourne for the season opener and have grabbed a couple of general admission tickets. Having never been to this race however, I'm after suggestions from any PHers in the know of the more popular places to view with general admission, as well as any other recommendations for the day.

Thoughts on a postcard please!

Your best bet is to look for the black rectangles - they are the screens which are necessary to have any idea of what is happening.

I've always headed to #10 / Clark as there is a large grassy hill so you usually get a decent view.
The other place I looked at was just after Chicane Pavillion (the map says customtomised structures) - this is a small area though so likely will be packed.

If you're after a decent spot, you'll need to get there at gates open. Each time I've been I got there a little after door-opening and people had already laid out their camp chairs / mats etc staking a claim on the hill.

Take a decent set of headphones / radio with you to hear the local commentary. Don't expect much though - the commentary team is abysmal and I did wonder why they don't just use Brundle or Coulthard's.

Hmm, I can't wait to hear the V10 twin seaters scream around the track early morning - it echo's into the CBD wonderfully.

Going to look at some of the details and try to plan where to be. Will definitely be aiming to get there early, so we can get a reasonably good viewing spot for later on.
