Anybody ever managed to get a good deal out Virgin Media to add Sky Sports F1? Currently looks like it would be about £30-£35 extra per month which is way more than I can justify. About £20 per month and I may have been tempted.
Sky sports package added £40 a month to my bill, I've dropped it at Christmas, so have to either find it on steaming or watch channel 4Byker28i said:

I suppose at just over £7 per race it's not bad value.
Not so good value though when half of the races are free-to-view (with all the pause, rewind and catch-up that you could want through 4-OD or whatever they call it now).Equivalent of £14 per race that you would otherwise only get highlights of. The pricing of this is a bit of a red-herring TBH. It'll be next year's offerings that will make or break the sport in the UK IMO.

Offer on at the moment - £18 a month for F1 , or £20 a month for all channels, (HD included for free), if you sign up for 18 months. http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sports/
The question was specifically about Virgin Media who aren't offering the above deal, but it is interesting to see that Sky are price-cutting their own package before the season has even started. Take-up not what they were expecting?!Edited by r11co on Wednesday 21st March 11:49

I prefer C4's coverage, I'm still not sure if the £150 is worth if for all the other races I'd watch live. In Summer I'm rarely in on a Sunday afternoon, but avoiding the result is getting more and more difficult.

£150 is more expensive than £143, which is the cost of the eleven week passes required to watch all qualifying sessions and grands prix live (the other ten are on C4). Plus, you might actually attend a couple of them, or have something else on that weekend etc. So, there's no reason to buy it purely for live F1. Of course, if you attach any value to the other sports in the Sky offering, it's a good price.

Or if you want to watch their F2, F3 & Porsche Carrera coverage?Official coverage is on hold. No surprise there.

£150 for a choppy HD ready picture that may or may not stream properly?
Na. You're alright. £18 a month for 9 months to watch the season in 4K with all the ability that sky Q has? Worth £12 more in my book, plus you don't have to pay it in one go either.
If it were 4K streaming with netflix style quality/on demand service then maybe.
They're way behind with this technology.

There must be loads of people who have sky sports packages but only want periodic races or weekend packages like NOW tv offers.
Aren't sky just getting existing sky subscribers to drop sky and go for the cheaper more personalised NOW packages? Or are they attracting new customers who didn’t want sky but are willing to pay for NOW?
I’ve still got old sky because my wife watches TLC and on now it’s only available in standard def at the moment.
I can’t wait until Liberty get F1 on a decent UK streaming service or even on Netflix or amazon. I think amazon will be showing more and more live sport as time goes on and you can just add the channels on or pay to watch per event. Sky just seems so old and inflexible and overpriced now.

Now TV for my broadband and Sky purely for the F1 total yearly cost is £890 a year, I just rang Sky to cancel after seeing this and they've created a new package system as such, basically I keep my original Legacy HD pack with "free" F1, which as many found out any package changes would cancel this package, Sky have matched Now TV and I get to keep the Legacy pack.
Also learned that Now Tv are possibly going to be offering a recording service in the next year or so, so I'll be saving £200 a year (£100 more than just Now TV with F1) until Now Tv offer a recording system.
Quite happy with that to be fair

Isn't that with an 18 month contract?
That'll be handy when it runs out half way through next years season!
I don't fancy paying for F1 during the off season!

I jest but following the now tv offer, I’ve received two emails today one from now tv for the 150£ 9 months and another from sky offering full sports pack (all channels) on the hd box for 18 pcm (again 18 months).
Argghhh !

Yes, your post has swayed it for me. I will buy a day pass for Sunday and skip the £150 offerI'm a bit confused.
I dropped Sky sports at the end of the last F1 season because F1 is literally the only thing I watch on Sky sports. I saw the £18 offer, logged into my Sky account and adding F1 wasn't an option but I could add any other Sports channel.
Bit of digging and it said F1 was free as part of Sky HD. Not Sky sports HD, just Sky HD.
Just double checked again now and in the Manage Package section it shows HD pack, I click on that and it states "49 channels, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports including Formula 1 in stunning HD." I still have no option to add F1 by itself.
Going to 406 on the box and sure enough I can watch F1. I'm still waiting for a live stream to see if it's correct but from what I can tell you get F1 without the need for the other sports providing you have the HD package. Other sports channels ask me to upgrade.
