All the money that has been spunked on this, and yet it appears noone considered the TV viewer, which ultimately is the key income source for the sport.
Exactly. I can't quite believe just how useless the picture is and how the hell this got approved. I mean, the in car footage makes a massive difference to the TV viewer.I hate the halo.
Camera in the halo may weaken it's structure potentially? As it'll be manufactured as one solid piece?
I hate the halo.
this is the first year in about 100 that I'm genuinely not excited to watch the first race.
I hate the halo.
Normally i'd be all over it for the last month. All the releases of the new cars, the tech improvements, who is driving what.
I hate the halo.
I literally haven't even look - I didn't even know it was on until something popped up on Divorcebook.
I hate the halo.
I'm actually just a bit sad the once wonderfully beautiful cars.........now look like they do.
Load of old st.

There was mention on Sky during their testing coverage that another factor that hadn't been considered is the driver's line of sight to the start light gantry.
I wonder if they've 'remembered' to fix that!
Yes they fixed that now.I wonder if they've 'remembered' to fix that!
They mentioned during FP1 and FP2 that there was an additional set of lowered start lights to allow all drivers to see as some drivers were obstructed by the Halo (depending on where you were on the grid).
At the end of each session a lot of, if not all, drivers did a test start from the grid to check out the additional lights.

just so I can get this straight, you're undecided about the halo?Camera in the halo may weaken it's structure potentially? As it'll be manufactured as one solid piece?

Tbh this has actually really pissed me off.
All that time debating how they would go about protecting the driver, testing the systems and the long lead up to the championship and no one thought, "hey what about the camera?". Either they've got some fkin' retards that never thought of it or they arrogantly thought, who cares ignore them (them being the fans). With every backward step F1 has taken lately, I suspect it to be the latter.

The reality is their view will be that this screw up doesn't affect them.
Why do I say this? As far as I am aware, all the major TV markets are tied up in multi-year deals for coverage. If this goes on for 3 races until they get their act together and get it resolved then it really isn't going to affect anything for them.

I'm sure there's footage of the 'nosecam' that IndyCar have introduced this year. Gives you a great sense of the speed, F1 could look at that.
It was used a lot during the St.Peterburg race the other week. It was incredible. You get such a sense of speed, probably because you can see the grain of the tarmac you're that close to it.confucuis said:

This is how I feel; it just shows that no thought is given to the fans at all.
