I'd like to see Tatiana Calderón promoted from Sauber test driver into a full race seat, but I doubt we'll see it happen.
Why would you like to see that?Eight years in F3/Euro F3 and GP3 with bugger all success, wins zero, poles zero, points, not many.
Frankly after that amount of time she shouldn't be in F3 let alone promoted to F1.

It'll be a while before we see a woman start an F1 race and probably longer on merit, simply because not enough get into motorsport early on. Until enough women get into motorsport and beat the guys in the lower formulas they will struggle to earn drives.
Susie Wolff / Carmen Jordan were no better, never won a race and were just promotional tools.
Danica Patrick won 1 race in Indy in 2008, nothing before that going all the way back to formula ford in 2000.

I'd just like to see a woman in an F1 seat, that's all. Although if she's a bit crap it would probably do more harm than good I suppose. Edited by Norfolkit on Friday 12th October 12:37

I really hope Ocon stays at FI and Perez gets the boot. Highly unlikely but I really don’t rate him as a driver, losing his head and often doing daft stuff
Like scoring podiums, and scoring more points than Ocon this season? That kind of daft stuff? Norfolkit said:
I think it would do a lot more harm than good. She really does not have the talent to be anywhere near F1 and the problem is everyone knows that., she only has a hook up with Sauber because shes a woman, that's not doing the talented female drivers out there any favours. If one of the teams want to put a female driver on their academy team on merit and sponsor her through GP3 and F2 I'm all for it and if she's good enough give her a F1 drive, but do it on ability alone (that should apply to all drivers obviously).
I think you're probably right. Plus it would be a case of this:

If she had a go, and was crap, people would say "women are crap" not "she's crap".

Mercedes said they wouldn't pay for either Russell or Ocon to race with another team so I hope it's not a case of family money winning out again.
Both fully deserve F1 drives on previous results but with the sacrifices that Ocons family made to get him where he is I've always had a soft spot for him.

Is there a backstory to him anywhere? Both fully deserve F1 drives on previous results but with the sacrifices that Ocons family made to get him where he is I've always had a soft spot for him.

Have a listen to the On the Grid Podcast interview with him, his family sold their house and pretty much lived in a caravan full time going to races all over Europe. One of the fee drivers to get where he has done on his talent getting him sponsorship Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
