RIP Williams.
RIP Force India if the pair of Stroll muppets get involved.

Daddy should really accept his son is never going to be a talent and there are cheaper hobbies. Maybe he should think on what his boy is going to do with his time after he gets properly bored of playing racing driver.
Why does everyone think Stroll is only in F1 because he has his Dad's money? He won the Euro F3 championship. Equal cars, mostly equal power from different engines, as good as a stock series really. Many F1 champions have won in F3 as well but I don't see anyone saying they're st and had no place in F1? https://www.fiaf3europe.com/formula-1-champions-f3...

He has some talent and solid backing. Not the next Senna/Hamilton but a pretty solid midfield driver in my view.

You have to look at the lack of strength in the competition that year. I know several drivers who gave it a miss because Stroll bought Prema, had Williams train his son and look to unlevel the playing field as much as possible.

I actually don’t think Stroll is as terrible a driver as made out and what is wrong with securing the future of an extremely well run team? I’m happy for the hardworking guys at Force India. Where that leaves Williams, without a title sponsor and seemingly no closer to understanding their car, who knows?

If true, do you think a name change would be on the cards? Will we have Stroll F1 next year?

Too many name changes become problematic for legacy payments etc hence the predictions they will simply become Force F1

I didn't mean financially, he sees FI as a relative down the family tree of his team and he's been happy to see them on the podium when they've been up there.

Been on the cards for a while I reckon they will do ok if he (dad) is willing to keep writing the cheques. They are starting off with a good team IMHO, Renault are their main competition and they have the money... so.... I think the main thing they need next is a No1 driver.... <cough>Alonso <cough>....

Now that sounds just what F1 needs!

Stranger things have happened. He is P8 ahead of the 2 Indias in 10th and 11th in a slower car and with some pretty low starting positions compared to them.

Mercedes need a B team if they are to out develop Ferrari, thought force India was the perfect team for them to buy or at least help out to a greater degree than they are doing, can that still happen with stroll and his son there, will Mercedes want a say on drivers or will Mercedes take their B team idea to Williams now and put Ocon or Russell in there

Outside the top 3 teams, anything goes now.

Stroll Sr buying FI and walking away from Williams (who lose Martini next year too)
Red Bull having no connection to Renault next year so where does Sainz go
Is Grosjean really good (Germany) or a liability (most other races)
McLaren and Alonso
other stuff all over the place. It could all get very silly.

George Russell has close links with FI. Will be interesting to see how that evolves now, and he is "owned" by Mercedes...

I think he is the only driver who may make the step up from F2 to F1 next year.

If the Stroll story is true where would he go though? Cant see him being Lance's teammate at FI, they'll want a more experinced driver in that position. Williams is the only other option and he doesnt bring money so cant see that happening.

He does net if Mercedes discount engines for a seat.

The rumour is Stroll wants Kubica in FI with his boy to help develope him, where does that leave Perez? His funding isn’t to be sniffed at.

Mercedes needs to getting cracking, Bottas has only signed one year and Hamilton only two-a succession plan needs to be in place for 2021 even if they walk away from the team as owners.

If stroll Snr really meant business he would buy out Toto’s share in Mercedes, and put lance in the Merc.

In all seriousness force India is a good investment for them.

I could see Perez in the no2 Ferrari.

& with the proposed change on car and driver weights the bigger guys like Hulkenberg and Stroll could benefit.

If this is true, and it probably is! I fear for Williams future.

Already lost Martini sponsorship
Last in 2018 so big prize money drop to come
potentially losing income from Stroll and Kubica

Struggling with car, and need to understand it before they can start next year's.

Sirotkin is on a multi year deal but hes not a team leader so they need to find an experienced driver who'll bring money or work for peanuts and be happy to run around at the back for at least a year.

Ideal world for me would be that Williams realise their position is weak, swallow their pride and take on the B-team status. Ocon alongside Sirotkin and develop from there.

Ignoring the Williams refusal to be a B team stance, Stroll will continue to push FI to have closer ties with Mercedes, if this happens I'm not sure Williams will survive, at least not in its current guise.

Maybe Williams could start WF1 (i.e. something like WNBA). They already have a female team boss.

Personally I think when SFW passes on the team will be gone within a couple of years.

Massive shame as I am a life long Williams fan but they need someone to come along and invest at least $500M additional to what they have now over the next 10 years, IMHO. Even then I think that will only get them to mid field.

There are very, very few people with that kind of money who are interested in F1. Most funding like that comes from dodgey Vc trusts with some kind of tax advantage and oil money etc.

Latest rumour is Danny Ric to renault. Interesting move https://www.racefans.net/2018/08/03/daniel-ricciar...

Wonder who will get the 2nd redbull seat if it happens.
