Sort of right and wrong. Judging what Martin Brundle wrote in "Working The Wheel" the shortened track used just the part of the track shown on the right of Dr Z's map with a cut through from somewhere before La Verrerie and joined the Mistral straight about half way down for the run up to Signes but the original track itself wasn't shortened in any way. Tickets are available for all of the grandstands around Sainte Baume so I guess that means we're back on the long track.
It cut through from immediately after the pit exit to about where the start of the chicane is now. It's roughly the same as it used to be looking from a distance, close up every corner has been changed at least a little. The corner before the pit straight is a fair bit tighter than it was and there used to be a chicane before what's marked as turn 12 on the FOM map.
The original turn 1 used to be somewhere between the two less severe versions of what's there now it I think.
If the mistral straight has changed length it's only by maybe 50 meters but it's hard to tell from aerial photos as everything around the track has changed so much there's not a lot to judge whether they've moved the corner, the barrier, or both to get the desired runoff area when they've reprofiled the corner.
The biggest change aside from the chicane in the middle of the straight is the very slightly colourful tarmac.

On another point, why did we do Monaco, then fly everything to Canada, then fly everything back to Paul Ricard - which can only be around 100 miles from Monaco??
Did DHL create the race schedule...
Good to see the FIA keeping a low carbon footprint not just with fuel saving in the race Did DHL create the race schedule...

It was even worse with Singapore and Malaysia, why those two were never back to back is beyond me.Did DHL create the race schedule...

Red bull use Esso/mobile fuels, did they not have a previous relationship with the Honda powered car.....The manufactures have put in millions to get these amazing engines to where they are and quite frankly they deserve some recognition.

I think McLaren were Exxon Mobil during the Honda years but have now adopted the same lubricants and fuel supply as Renault and have usurped Red Bull as ‘favoured’ customer. Another reason why Red Bull will be trying to make a Honda deal work. HustleRussell said:

Correct, this red bull engine deal has been on the cards for a while, tell me what fuel does Toro Rosso useRed bull can directly compare the two engines with the preferred fuel for the Honda, as because they have the non preferred esso fuel they pay for their own dyno time with the Renault engine.

I do wish more was made of the engines and their manufactures in the wider sport. More interviews, greater access to the garages for the cameras to actually see one in the open and definitely an engine manufacturers champion and trophy.

Sky have done a nice piece with Renault and Mercedes on the engines. The manufactures have put in millions to get these amazing engines to where they are and quite frankly they deserve some recognition.
