Finished a lap down on the Honda, nice points though.

A lap down on one Honda, but ahead of all the others, and well ahead of the factory Renaults too.

I think the 4 Renaults probably put manners on the 4 hondas. Strong showing by McLaren today. Two good drivers

Edited, average finishing position of 9.25 for each car so the same. However allowing for Ted Bulls genius designer/chassis unless McLaren and Renault are packing some serious chassis tricks of their own it’s safe to say Honda are not yet clear of the Renault PU. Especially as Albon took two new engines this weekend...

He was only a short time hire, until James Key could join the team. Be interesting to see if Fry appears elsewhere (Williams?)

Lets hope so, Williams could do with his input.

I thought mclaren already had a wind tunnel and that they used their lake for cooling of the tunnel?
The new wider F1 cars don’t fit in most people’s wind tunnels, hence why most use Toyota’s in Germany.
Budget caps are coming ..

Expect big spending before the cap.

McL wind tunnel is on the to do list ..

Actually it's not an issue of full size cars not fitting in the tunnels but it's close. The McLaren tunnel is built for 50% scale models but the F1 regs allow for testing with up to 60% scale models (full size testing is barred) so they use the Toyota tunnel primarily for that reason.

I was if the understanding that the issue isn't so much the size of the cars, but the recent trend to push the front wing endplate vortex outside the wheels, so they need to measure what's going way beyond the width of the car.

Well if they can't fit a 60% model in there then they won't be able to measure the outwash for sure.

McLaren are keeping Lando and Carlos for 2020.

Not really surprising given the (good) performances to date this year.

Seems like a very good decision to retain the two and announce it now, they are performing well and knowing they are in the car for at least another year and a half will help keep the focus on moving forward.

It’s a breath of fresh air to see the laid back relationship the two have also, I wonder if that will change as the results creep further upwards?

Interesting comments from McLaren that other teams were sniffing around because 'they are unhappy with both of the drivers in their line-ups'.

Lando, saying he's just passed his test, thought it was a waaa, but seems not.
