In the works according to this: https://uk.motor1.com/news/253943/porsche-new-mode...

If true then presumably it will be a slightly lighter Cayman for slightly less than the price of an S ..

Dare I ask, what's wrong with the 911T?

It's a marketing exercise to flog base 911s.

Exactly the same as a 718T will be wink

shorter gear ratios are a possibility according to the article, if (i know it's a big if) the Cayman T mods match the 911 T ones.

that could be good?

Not night and day different though, the 911T got the ratios from the S/GTS I think.

A good way to fix a spec for the WLTP emissions testing too - homologate a fairly rigid spec to get the base car units sold wink

OK, but it's a reasonably attractive package, or so they say.

Quite fast as well.

I don't find anything about the T badging attractive, it's not in the least bit special to me, but each to their own smile

Yes, I like the manual box, diff and PASM, plus ditching the unusable rear seats seems like a good idea as well. I'd probably cave and have the satnav & radio.

It looks like a fun car, and not too bad value at £85k.

I reckon that article is way off the mark with the features. RWS on a Cayman?

Price point is going to be very tricky and narrow too, although we know Porsche are the best at milking every penny out out of a market.

But in this case Mr R is right. The T is a joke parts bin special.

Have a decent lunch and it weighs the same as all the other bloated 911s. They should do a proper job and make it a real drivers car, but they won’t!

Edited to add in my opinion which I am happy for others to disagree with.

Plenty of T reviews on you tube that disagree with yours. For me Nick Murray's very recent review below carries more clout because he owns a 991.2 4S and has no axe to grind. It would also be more informative if people could let PH'ers know how much time they have actually spent driving the vehicle's they are commenting on.

Sorry, who is Nick Murray? Does he have any creds at all?

He’s a self-proclaimed porsche fan boy. You would have to watch his multiple porsche reviews to be the judge of his ‘credibility’. His reviews are more real-world and given that he’s spent a fair amount of time driving the various versions of the porsche range (importantly not lent by Porsche) he has ‘more’ creditability and visibility than anonymous posters (myself included) on forums IMHO.

‘Harry’s Garage’ review of Porsche 991.2 S is probably the most honest appraisal and it would be interesting to see what he makes of the T. At 16.24 he sums up the S engine as a disappointment and suspects that the base engine is the ‘honey’ in the turbo range. I'm assuming you know Harry's credentials??

I also rate Harry Catchpole’s Carfection reviews too. Here is his T review:

I don't think anyone is lauding it as the best car ever just a fun non-GT car to drive in spite of being 'a parts bin special!' What was particularly crazy were how many salesman tried to persuade me not to get one despite never having driven a T. Work that one out!
