At the risk of getting laughed off the internet, what is the chances that a TVR could be pressed into more or less daily driver including a fairly regular 50 mile round trip commute.

specifically S series (probably 3) or early chim?

I used to run a 20 year old morgan as a daily (about 10k miles annually) and found that the more it was used the less issues it threw up - and certainly when the bits that had perished following lack of use it was "robust". but TVR has a whole different reputation for reliablility

I did 30,000 miles a year for 10 years in Chimaeras. Other than needing my own oil well, all was (mostly) well.

Mind you, the cars were not 18 years old then hehe

Forget the fact it's a TVR, running any car that's nearly 30 years old as a "daily drive"could have issues scratchchin

So so much depends on how well the car has been maintained. Used My S3 for a couple of weeks back in February when I was "between cars", it did the job faultlessly but wasn't fun!

Previous owner of my chim did 200,000 miles in it in his 12 year ownership. It was and remains impeccably maintained.
No major breakdowns.

Used mine as daily for around a month (inc commute of c40-60miles a day / runs to the airport) when I was between cars recently. Never missed a beat. Helped weather has been good but think the car is all the better for it and running great.

I used a Chimaera and then a Tuscan as a daily driver for 8 years in total. I didn’t have any real issues with either of them. Driving over winter with grit on the roads isn’t good for the chassis though, it destroyed my Tuscan chassis. I’ve not long had a body off refurb, the chassis was in a terrible state!

How times change, company cars these days are likely to be fitted with a 13 amp plug!

progress? possibly not!

Always used my TVR's as daily drivers, including a 60 mile each way commute. With a very few exceptions, only needed servicing to schedule.

Try them & decide. Chimaera will obviously be newer, maybe considerably so.
