Hi All,

Just pick up the Boxster 987. Does anyone please know if the colour is Lapis Blue?

And any good places to get the correct touch up pen?

Cheers,

Mark.

Used to have a lapis blue boxster pre that era (986) but can't really tell from the photo as yours looks a bit dark to me
maybe a brighter photo might help others decide

p.s.

check the id plate for colour code - that might confirm,

and try design911 for touch-up pens - think they have them.

Certainly looks like lapis blue to me. As far as I remember there was no other similar colour avialable at the time. Of course there is always PTS (Paint To Sample) but my money is on lapis.

Thanks very much for your help.

It cost £8000, has full Porsche service history and 75k on the clock and is in good condition.

Lapis looks almost purple in direct sunlight and then very dark in the, erm, dark.

If it just looks blue all the time, it's probably not. Hard to photo that purple tinge though.

My old lapis -

From the pics it looks like midnight blue to me. Although the 987 no longer has a bonnet sticker I think they still have the paint colour sticker on the inside of the left wing - pull back the boot carpet on that side to take a look.

cloudy147's pic looks like what I remember my lapis blue boxster looked like - bit brighter than yours.

check the ID plate yours still looks a bit darker - might be midnight or PTS colour

one other thing, if yours is '05 plate and that dark, chances are it was darker when new as colours fade in sun - they don't strengthen - so maybe it was darker new and more like midnight and now it's fading a bit is closer to lapis. unlikely it was originally if you compare it to cloudy147's you can see the difference.

p.s. just checked my original sales brochure for my 03 boxster and the only blue then was lapis, the darker blue may have come in later years, but not available then.

definitely want to check the ID plate for colour code

and p.s. love the colour you've got - looks great and I wouldn't want to change it if I were you - just need to find out what it is! :-)

Thanks for your help. I'm having trouble finding the ID plate. I've checked the drivers doors and inside fuel flap and it's not there. I've read somewhere it could be buy the battery?

should be on the bottom of the black sticker with the tyre pressures on it, inside the door pillar drivers side, ( base of the B post)

A touch up stick is only about £12 from Porsche

Easier just to ring your local OPC , give them the reg no and they'll order the right colour for you

But id say it was Lapis Blue

Found the code, LM5W, so Lapis Blue.

I’ll buy the touch up stick from Porsche.

Thanks very much for all your help.
