I agreed with DS about something once. It took me quite some time to take it all onboard.

Car/Mapping or Lando ? Oscar's was very much the same. - https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/f1/13... Anthony Davidson analyses why Lando Norris had a slow start at the Dutch Grand Prix on the SkyPad.

Perfect.
If F1 is serious about reducing costs, they can also be run on eFuel for green kudos.
You are just soo full of it. What have eFuels got to do with reducing costs? The things you say are nonsensical and I grow wearisome.
V10's would lower costs. F1 is currently an R&D lab for car manufacturers.

Remember when Williams was a garagista and winning ?

Continue with your weariness biggrin

I don't care either way, I just want V10s and V12s back.

If we go back to ICE only then I'd rather have 1.5 litre with massive turbos (with quali engines) - it would keep the weight down?

Turbos ruin the sound.

Hmm, but the idea of a 1500hp quali engine is too tempting.

Those were totally bonkers, basically the frame of an engine and a massive turbo turned up to 11, no instrumentation or telemetry on it bar the rev counter, for weight saving, and expected to last two quick laps if they were lucky!

1000bhp/litre, the only thing better than that is a Top Fuel dragster engine, which needs a rebuild literally every five seconds!

Nowadays you could have a V10 and a massive hybrid system that would do pretty much the same performance, but sounding even better and be more reliable.

I would remove the fuel flow limit for qualifying, but if they have to change or rebuild the engine overnight they take a pit lane start for the race. Would be brilliant to see how far they dare push it for performance vs reliability.

I thought we were trying to get the weight down of the cars?

But its more than that, he bails out of any close racing at the starts, you can almost guarantee that in a 50-50 move at the start he will bail out. I appreciate you can't win a race at the first corner but it is frustrating how soft he is.

But you said it, you can't win at the first corner, so better to bide your time and get them later rather than crash right at the start is it not?

More so if your opponent has a large points lead in the championship and has "a reputation" in a similar situation with ever decreasing races.

I'm not his greatest fan but that seems sensible if you know your car is faster.

Judd will still make you a V10 to stick in that old F1 car you have lying in the back of your garage.

Allegedly costs around $100k, and needs a $30k rebuild every 3,000km. biggrin
Bargain, a new DFV is £125K plus VAT and has a rebuild schedule of 1000 miles. Rebuild cost is circa £15K if nothing is broken.

He's too much of a gentleman at the moment.

No champion would just trust his teammate not to try a move early on. They would just cover every eventuality off.

I’ve changed my mind - Lando should never have given up the lead allowing OP to win a race and get that spring in his step. OP is a real threat and ultimately has plans to wrestle the number 1 off Lando.

I’ve seen the start of the race on YT. OP should have been defending Lando not overtaking him, which ultimately cost 1 driver position and opened up the win for Ferrari. Yet McLaren are claiming that it was fair racing between 2 number 1 drivers. Are they clueless?

I’ve said it time and time again - unless you’re streets ahead of the competition, like McLaren in 1988 and the Mercs from 2014 to 2021, you can’t have 2 number 1’s in a team. Merc will not win anything with GR & LH and McLaren won’t with Lando and OP. They have to decide or the team with the right approach will take the spoils.

I see your point but I like the racing and pecking orders disrupt that. They’re both young and talented but Lando has to step up and it’s crossed my mind that the team may think Piastri is the better racer, so don’t want to risk upsetting him. They will probably win the constructors so let the drivers sort it out, meanwhile we don’t have to sit through boring processions.
