Surprised that Lando isn’t even nominated for the BBC’s 2024 SPotY Award.
Yes, F1 may be seen as an elite money sport, but thought he (and McLaren) taking the fight to Max (and RedBull) would have justified his inclusion - and he does at least have ‘personality’.
He had a long shot at the title but unfortunately he messed it up.Yes, F1 may be seen as an elite money sport, but thought he (and McLaren) taking the fight to Max (and RedBull) would have justified his inclusion - and he does at least have ‘personality’.
I like Lando and he's arguably a good role model as a sportsman, he's certainly popular. But the bottom line is he failed at his title challenge due to making multiple mistakes in one race.
I'm sure in time he'll make a better fist of opportunities and maybe then the nation can celebrate him

I can sort of understand Lando's omission but I think it would be wrong if McLaren were overlooked for the nomination of team of the year.RB Will said:
Apparently Lando is set to become Sir Norris after his stellar season.
Seems a tad premature given what Stewart and Hamilton achieved before they got theirs.
Looks like a lot of Twitter/Threads guff that's been made up.Seems a tad premature given what Stewart and Hamilton achieved before they got theirs.
He doesn't even have a CBE/OBE - you need to do something pretty stellar to get knighted having bypassed those and Norris hasn't.

Sorry, but just felt I had to respond.Yes, F1 may be seen as an elite money sport, but thought he (and McLaren) taking the fight to Max (and RedBull) would have justified his inclusion - and he does at least have ‘personality’.
In what way did Lando 'take the fight' to Max? I felt he specifically didn't take the fight to Max, despite having a car that would allow him to do so. All I seem to recall throughout the season is that the points gap just got bigger, even when Max had a car that allowed him to qualify 5th or whatever.
It would have been embarrassing to see Lando on SPOTY, he had a season to want to forget imo.

Trying to watch Dune Prophecy but this trainee bene gesserit witch looking like Lando Norris is putting me right off. Might be more in the facial movement and gestures than looks alone (or could be just me?)

Dunc.
Keep watching. If she tries to stand up and walk off and then trips over ahead of catching everyone else up... You might be on to something Dunc.

Ignoring whether or not this is true, he would be Sir Lando. The title goes to the first name, not the surname. Seems a tad premature given what Stewart and Hamilton achieved before they got theirs.
Amusingly, that's the same name as a strain of marijuana.

ks. Imagine waiting for the black guy to win seven WDC's before slinging him a knighthood and then giving one to the white kid for winning zero and messing up the chance they had to get one
