That's my feeling - he's done great compared to... a driver that shouldn't be in F1?!

That's not to say he's not still a great driver, but we simply don't know until he regains a useful teammate.
He was behind Stroll in points for a fair chunk of the season!

I can't be bothered to repeat why that freak stat occurred.

I'm surprised the new year honours haven't been mentioned, they really don't like motorsport.

I think Lando hasn’t done enough on the UK to register. It could be that living in Monaco hasn’t helped. He’s dad is a bit of a dick as well.

He didn’t win SPOTY nor get on the honours list. Button excepted , who didn’t win SPOTY in 09 (he came 2nd) Brits WDC’s have tended to win the thing and get an honour. He has work to do.

I think the recipients were notified months ago. He only wrapped up the title just over 3 weeks ago.

There is normally a rating by team principals as well somewhere...
It is on F1.com. Interestingly not every team responded this year - there was no response from either Red Bull or Ferrari.

1. Verstappen
2. Norris
3. Piastri
4. Russell
5. Alonso
6. Sainz
7. Leclerc
8. Bearman
9. Hadjar
10. Hulkenburg
Drivers ranked by the F1 drivers themselves:

1. Verstappen
2. Norris
3. Russell
4. Piastri
5. Leclerc
6. Sainz
7. Alonso
8. Albon
9. Bearman
10. Hadjar

Yes - it’s a slow process from long list to short list. Also people can decline the honour.

Also most people would have said he was the hot talent in F1 at that time - which can't really be said of Lando, because Max.

You need to win titles to win honours but not all titles win an honour.

Except Mansell was awarded his OBE in 1990, before he won either the F1 WDC or the CART championship.

Here's a pic of him receiving it dated Feb 1991 https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-formula-one-driv...

The honours list is also decided wat before it's announced don't forget. With how late the F1 season ends now it's morw likely he'll be on the next one

I think, all told, it's been a bit underwhelming for him. He did a cracking job to win the thing against Max and Oscar, yet he doesn't seem to be getting the credit from his peers, the team principals, the UK public and the honours list. Yes, he has work to do, but I'm sure he doesn't give a st - the trophy is more important than what others think. He'll live.

He won. The end. Celebrate and enjoy. Finishing 2nd in a popularity pole…so what.

And just to rub it in the London new year firework display acknowledged the woman's football and then woman's rugby but nothing for F1, with all the other countries welcoming it with open arms the UK needs to be careful

Send your thanks to sky. Hardly anyone watches F1 in the UK anymore because of the ridiculous paywall.

Happy new year btw biggrin

I think Now TV is well worth the subscription. I have it mainly for the football and the darts at this time of year. I rarely watch an F1 race these days, it’s just too boring. I’ll watch Monaco qualifying and maybe the race at Spa.
Much prefer Touring Cars to F1.

Have to say I do love touring cars and years ago followed both F1 and touring cars. Last year I followed F1 and it was great with a real contest after years of boring no contest championships.

Love max was being max and the kid came good.
