I dont think fans really like races like today. People's idea of classic season is shumacher/hamilton/verstappen finishing 30 seconds ahead as you doze in front of the tv. Then down the pub wearing the team cap lol.

I just spent most of the race waiting for him to make a mistake. I expected the pressure to get to him, poor start, run wide on a few corners. I expected him to be over taken in the pits if not on the track . I expected Oscar to win .
I am not a Lando fan , however he had a very good measured and strong weekend, getting the results. Good for him .

Agreed. I still definitely see Piastri as stronger over the balance of the season.

Ironic that Piastri was f*cked by one Alpine on Saturday and the other on Sunday.

I doubt there’s a poster here who’d want to go back to seasons like that.

An interesting week of assaults on Norris in Canada from all and sundry all for naught.
His team have now said Piastri got a derate and no way could Norris have avoided crashing into him in Canada.
I guess he was a bit close though.

Tbf, it would be quite amusing to tote up all the posters who were confidently proclaiming that Norris would never beat Piastri earlier in the season (and some were doing so last year even when Norris had a huge points lead over his teammate)........

I think it's easier to not like LN than it is OP. Well done to LN he scored the most points in this season, there is a big part of me wishing someone else had done so .
I have not met N or P ,so it's purely an irrational feeling of negativity towards him . Gained from watching TV and YouTube.

Neither of the McLaren drivers wholly convincing. I lost faith Norris as the season wore on and then all of a sudden there was Piastri's sudden drop in form.

Norris has been Norris in the past 18 months. Happy when he's on pole and leads the race and dominates but is prone to poor starts and struggles when he needs to pull something out of the bag.

On the other hand Max has been relentless all year and has set such a high bar I can't see any other driver currently on the grid at the same level, Max could have won races in the Ferrari and possibly contender for the WDC.

that's more than a bit of a stretch...... Leclerc never really even had a sniff of a win nevermind challenge for the championship. As good as Verstappen is, he's probably not that much better in any single race (almost certainly over the season he's going to be better though) as Leclerc is bloody quick and apart from Silverstone, hasn't had any major flubs.

Considering how bad this year's RBR has been why is it a laughing matter / a bit of a stretch?

WDC fight is another matter. CLC was making unforced errors in 2022 - French GP being an excellent example. Whether CLC has improved in that regard remains to be seen. Time and again Sainz Jr had shown he was superior to Ferrari strategists as well as CLC.

Because Verstappen still requires a car that puts him ballpark there and about a and competitive with the Mclaren. Leclerc, who, no one doubts is quick, just never was in a situation where he even had a sniff of a race win. Verstappen, while almost certainly a better driver (especially over the season, just couldn't have ended up far faster than Leclerc to get sufficient wins to get stuck in for the championship......

It's a myth based on Albon's interviews saying when he was at RBR the cars were like a hyper-sensitive mouse pointer. In the past 18 months the RBRs would understeer then oversteer.
