Does anyone actually like Vettel?

I do.
I don't get the hate for him really. I'm aware of past history with Webber, and petulantly bumping Hamilton but beyond that I don't really see anything that can't be explained by being in bleeding edge competitive environment. I note also that Hamilton's behaviour (and others) is hardly beyond reproach when they're losing.
He's likeable, he seems to accept losing fair and square, he goes out of his way not to blame his team when clearly there have been serious mistakes and failures of development, etc.
What I end up left with is thinking that people just flat out hate him because of his dominance at RBR (a complaint that could equally be levelled at Hamilton nowadays), the Finger(tm), and... because he's not Hamilton I guess?
Happy to be educated, but what is so wrong with the guy that (some) people on here seem to be genuinely pleased as punch when he loses out?

From what I have seen I like him more than say, Senna. He has his flaws on track, like many multiple WDCs.
Off track he is highly guarded, like Schumacher. He isn't afraid to have a go at the press (as he did in defence of Lewis)
What he does let out - like the Top Gear episode - is pretty likeable.

You make a good point about the calling out the press in defence of Hamilton.
I must admit also that I am also rather fond of the fact that he eshews social media, keeps his private life private and doesn't use the media as part of his whole strategy. I will concede though that Hamilton is cut from a different cloth and is heavily into his profile on social media etc so that's just the way they both are.

A couple of factors that could influence this that we won't know:1. The terms of Vettel's contract with Ferrari. Vettel may not have the same freedom as Hamilton to sign endorsements.
2. Vettel's interest in giving up his free time to promote brands other than the ones he is contractually obliged to for Ferrari.

Is he?
He's miserable when he loses, worse when he wins and insufferable when a team mate shows him up. And he's German.
As above I don't know him as a person at all and he did come across much better on Top Gear, defending Hamilton in the press conference recently and on other occasions - these are probably better occasions to judge him on. I'm quite sure he's a nice guy really. But still, I won't worry if I never see that finger again.
Most importantly, he's not a particularly good driver by multiple champion standards. 4 championships in a dominant car with an average team mate. Countless mistakes when actually required to race.
Ignoring the comparison with Hamilton, who is in a different league, I'd suggest that the likes of Nico Rosberg/Jenson Button are on a par or better than Vettel.

away from the track he is funny, witty and relaxed. I like the bits he has done for Sky with Ted.
I'd like to like him more if he was winning! (life long Ferrari fan here)
Quite an amusing and nice bloke for a german though he does do a schumacher when the chips are down.
Loved by all when he was winning everything and had power.
Also see the pundit bravery of dismissing Alonso and favouring ocon x10 for every perez mention because he is mexican and there is some sort of loophole to exploite there.
Meanwhile everyone everywhere is scared to death of offending verstappen who is almost on a par with that idiot cage fighter that got a slap last weekend.
