I agree, his presence would be missed - he's a red bull dream, drama and sporting spite personified. But all said and done, a bit of an arse wink

Not sure if I'd go as far as to say I like him though. Let's just say... I can think of better people to go to the pub with. His wife for one smile
For good or worse he has the interests of the team as his main priority, people seem to read a lot into every word he's said about Honda for no reason imo, RB knew this year would still be a development year but so far they seem to have hit the target expected. You can't really do more than that in a few months in F1

I think it's safe to say that RB/Horner are extremely happy with Honda. Sure, it's not quite a Mercedes PU... But for what they have to spend it's a significant upgrade. And RB are all about the headlines, I'm sure they're very happy to now have headlines stating that their gamble in leaving Renault paid off.

I don't doubt his passion and determination one bit. My comments were just my own impression of how well I could deal with the man over a beer. To be honest, I imagine all TP's are more focused and serious than I am, either when I'm at work or down the pub. They would all conflict with my relaxing beer time wink

I dunno, like anyone once you get a few beers in them it's amazing how relaxed people get, usually the ones who are most successful/in high pressure jobs tend to go more all out than the resthehe

Actually I'm forced to agree with that biggrin

Also after a few beers, I'll talk to just about anyone... Even if my sober self does suspect they might be a bit of a bellend.

To paraphrase Peter Green, “... don't ask them what they think of you
they might not give the answer that you want them to......” wink

I was so overjoyed to see a mention of PG that I hadn't noticed your sublime use of English grammar.

Had to play my early Fleetwood Mac cds to give myself a pick-me-up.music

Red bull are certainly no further away from the front than they were last year and we've seen various Renaults have reliability problems in the first few races. So the switch looks like a good one

Honda are also a partner rather than a supplier, making it easier to integrate or adapt the engine to suit the overall package.

The Netflix documentary really showed how badly the relationship had broken down with Renault. I thought Cyril looked like a smug bully in that and not someone I'd like to work with. Horner is also no angel and is Marko's puppet to an extent, but I reckon I could work with him. That said, I don't like the way red bull treat their drivers, there always seems to be a favourite and if it's not you, you are screwed.

Where would redbull be this year if Daniel was still with them? You have to say that their lineup has got weaker this year,

They were putting all their eggs into the Verstappen basket for a couple of years now. Daniel knew this.

I checked they have more points after 4 races this season than they did last season with a stronger driver lineup.

Better car (mostly), and Max is flying. He's upset at least one Ferrari drivers day every race so far.

The supposed Ferrari vs Mercedes battle gets a lot of the headlines right now, but in truth even with just Max in the fray, Red Bull are attacking Ferrari as often as Ferrari are battling with Mercedes. It's pretty impressive. Here's hoping they're even stronger this weekend.

But they had fewer points after three races, and Baku was where they crashed into each other last year. And they've won fewer races than at this point last year..

Other than crashing, still reasonable to say this year would be better still with DR as the second driver surely?

I haven't looked back at his points race by race for the first 3 last year, but I imagine higher than PG's haul this year. I know he won in China and I recall he did fairly well in Melbourne.

However it's looked at or calculated, I would struggle very much to conclude that this years car isn't superior to last years. It's extremely competitive and if PG could really get on top of his car (looks like he has just about) then in a few more races it should be clear they're on for a better overall season. Just less DNF's than last year would do it - the fact they're also faster is a bonus.

"Patricio O’Ward"

How do they shorten that to 3 letters?

OWA? WAR? ARD?

Maybe "POW" smile

I'd go with POW personally.
