Rich Energy's YouTube channel has 74 subscribers, Red Bull's has 8.1 Million. Yet they are taking them on! Where are these mystical cans? Surely title sponsorship of a midfield F1 team must be £30 million or so?

I like the Mitchell & Webb yacht video by the way. I'm still calling crazy rich eccentrics wanna play F1.

ETA.

Companies house lists Rich Energy as being incorporated in Sept 2015, 2 directors William Storey, Computer Consultant & Zoran Terzic, Keep Fit instructor. Also lists a resigned Director, who was the manager of a pub.

Curiouser and curiouser.

So bizarre, if it's some sort of shell why attach a supposed actual, physical product to it that can easily be debunked, rather than an obscure service?! They're either stupid or insanely clever. I'm guessing the few cans that exist are actually made by the same factory that make the generic Aldi and Lidl energy drinks.

Surely Haas would have looked into all this, rather than just taken some money no questions asked?

I'm hoping/assuming some F1 journalist is working hard on this given it's still the off-season.

Seems very strange, unless some of the 90million cans are about to hit the shelves in the next 2 weeks id say these guys will be off the car by the time Barcelona happens.

Whilst the whole Rich Energy thing appears odd - it does bare a similarly to Hype's model in the 90s. This was a brand that started to appear on F1 and Bike Racing and grew in predominance over few years, despite the product being very hard to find anywhere.

They used the start-up investment to gain brand awareness and the contacts made via sponsorship to open global distribution networks.

The product was launched (though not to any great extent in the UK) and, I believe, did rather well. Betrand Gachot purchased company some years ago.

Anyone else think Haas has all the makings of this....

Came here to put this, but I've been beaten to it.

From everything I've seen this is either a shell comany, a con, or someone trying to build a company from nothing. Several people here have gone on Amazon looking to buy the stuff, I have, not to try it but to see if it exists.

Genuinely think myself that this Storey fella (even his surname makes it sound like a fairy tale) is doing exactly what the Nigerian prince did to Arrows. Sure, Haas have said that Rich Energy have paid the first instalment, but what about the next few?

Of course it’s a con - it’s a big fat hairy arsed con from a beardy weirdo who has made a fool of the teams courting his “money”.

This has got to be some sort of joke! On their own website, on the home page, one of the images that links through to the shop says "Hover Example"

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the 'em' on the square to the left was "Lorem"...

Maybe someone's moving some exceedingly dodgy money.

Mind, after the last debacle along the same lines you'd think F1 teams would be doing a bit more due research. Apparently not.

As soon as payments stop you can bet those stickers will be peeled straight off.

I wouldn't be surprised if Haas don't have a plan B in their pocket.

Surely their plan B is going back to putting Haas all over the car again?

Haas F1 have been pretty much self funded until now with their machinery being bought by a few other Motorsport and F1 teams. What's changed?

There are many other companies than just F1 ones who use Haas machinery you know. It's a massive business.

I know - that's what I meant. If Rich Energy are paying in installments, it's kinda a no cost option for Haas.

If they miss a payment, change the livery back to a Haas car. If they do make the payments, then all is good in the world and they have spent less running their F1 team.

May well be that Haas are willing to sell space cheaper, being a new team and happy to just accept a decent wedge of any description. Even so the money from Rich Energy isn't screaming legitimate in any way. There may well be a reason they weren't allowed to buy Force India by the administrators...

If don’t need the sponsorship, could it be a equity for promotion deal? HAAS help build the brand and reap the reward?

While it's not normally a site that I would quote, this was interesting - "TJ13 understands that behind the Alfa Romeo team is now populated by a significant quantity of Ferrari technicians who have been diverted away from Maranello for the Sauber project, in a Red Bull Racing / Toro Rosso style. Please look away FIA."

So Sauber one to watch?
