Meanwhile, CW says there are no problems with team morale, and they're all one big happy family...

Hmm.. if that's true then how bad would their results be if they weren't in such a supposedly happy place!?https://www.motorsportweek.com/news/id/22882
Hopefully Chadwick will be able to use this appointment as a stepping stone to a more complete F1 team. She's got too much potential to be faced with the disillusion of trundling around the back of the pack in an uncompetitive car. With luck she'll show some pace on the SIM and in real testing and then be snapped up by another team.

Jamie Chadwick isn’t ready for F1 really. Lance Stroll swept the F3 championship and didn’t exactly make the transition to F1 look easy.
I think you make a good point. Why isn’t she doing F3 (Old GP3) and/or F2 first?I know she’s doing well in FW but can’t gauge how competitive that is. Alice Powell has a podium I think and she’s not really more than a well funded clubbie.
It would be good to be able to compare Jamie with Calderon, at least.

Feels like the Williams fan boy bus has taken a wrong turn here - you could put any of the top 6 driver from this years championship and put them in the Williams and they are only ever going to be at the back of the grid.
No marketing director worth his job is going to burn up $10m plus advertising dollars on this farce - max 200,000 live viewers in the UK per race = total waste of your marketing budget.
Any marketing director will have lots of attribution models available to show him where the best value is for his $10m dollars and right now F1 is at the bottom of the league - and Williams is at the bottom of the bottom league.
No wonder they cant get a real sponsor.

On your last point.. I don't think they can get a big money sponsor anymore. Lots of PR points for being the team to support returning a disabled driver to the sport and introducing a woman. There are sponsors out there that will see that as positive and will sign up. But the big hitters... Nope. The big money is for teams that are at least capable of fighting for something the press might pick up on. Even if it's a lower midfield battle there is some press interest and exposure. No marketing director worth his job is going to burn up $10m plus advertising dollars on this farce - max 200,000 live viewers in the UK per race = total waste of your marketing budget.

For this season and last, Williams are stone dead last. No battle, hence no interest. There is no story. Even this thread has slowed and we're F1 geeks and Williams well wishers! 3-4 brief shots per race of a Williams car in last, coupled with Martin Brundle sighing, is not an 'advertising opportunity' for anyone with big money.
God only knows what next season will bring.

That would be a good step up, and winning in that and subsequently F2 would definitely deserve an F1 try out.

++ as in football and stadium revenues vs TV money - sponsorship is just a declining part of the overall revenue pie for the teams. For this season and last, Williams are stone dead last. Like in other sports, there’s a shift going on as businesses/teams/competitors (in F1) try to figure out where they are on the ‘indifference curve’ as to what relationships are most important to them, where should they spend their time pulling in revenue from etc.
Funnily enough I think the whole Rich Energy/Haas debate highlights it: Haas have long figured out their economic model and whilst marketing types are burying their heads trying to figure out how the financial relationship works between the two firms (the word firm used loosely re: Rich Energy) based on outdated sponsorship rate cards, maybe the amount is actually negligible because the game has moved on. It’s not that important to Haas; they can take a punt and rip off the stickers if Storey does a flit. Big deal...
Williams will have to adjust their economic model. They might be in a different place on the ‘curve’ to say, a Haas, but if you’re not the market maker, you’re manipulated according to the market.

Anyone got any Williams predictions for Monaco? I'm thinking their cars looked so tricky in Barcelona that at least one of them is going to spin or run very wide. Both things there isn't really space to for in Monaco
If it rains we might finaly start to see some comparative driving from GR. After the RK safety car of course...Petrus1983 said:
Getting back to thing...
RK was 4 seconds off the pace today when the top 6 cars were separated by less than a second. Ignoring Stroll (because he’s st) the next slowest car was 1.7sec off the pace. So 17 drivers within 1.7 - then Williams. It’s truly awful.
Is the view that with his lack of full arm movement, that Monaco would be a place that causes him most issues anyway?RK was 4 seconds off the pace today when the top 6 cars were separated by less than a second.
