There are some strange men leading the teams. Zak Brown and Little Jack Horner come across really badly, almost laughable.

I suggest you judge Horner by his results. It isn't a popularity contest . And you want really barking F1 people there are some strong candidates in the past - . Louis Stanley , Gunter Schmid , Jean Pierre Van Rossem and Andrea Sassetti would be on most short lists .

Thanks for the opportunity but I’ll stick with the ‘he comes across as a tt’ regardless of how effective the team might be.

He comes across pretty well considering the job he's in and all that goes with it. For bonkers you only have to look at Briatore, Jordan, Dennis etc... F1 is littered with team bosses past and present who are more than slightly mental, Red Bull have a safe pair of hands in Horner.

Briatore, who conspired to fix a race and risk injury to the 2nd driver. He was also that drivers manager.

Total abuse of power.

I agree Zak comes across poorly, partly I think because he looks so odd, like he has just popped out of a (size large) mould.

CH is a different kettle of fish altogether IMO.

There’s being confident and then there’s saying “you were just making tea when we started winning”.

That’s not confidence or winning attitude, it’s just being a prick.

Theres a bit too much of will buxton in the series for me. Dno what it is but I just cant stand him. reminds me of those crap celebrities that add their comment on the top 50 of the year programs that come around christmas time.

I think the series is designed to help initiate new fans to the sport. Buxton's dumbed down explanations of what we established fans already understand would make sense in that context.

Otherwise however, as a long term fan, the series offered a genuine new insight for me. God knows what liberty used to bribe the teams to agree to fly on the wall filming... But given the two teams with the highest budgets were the two that didn't take part, I'm guessing there was some financial incentive for the rest that did.

Binge watched it yesterday, really enjoyed it. My favourite bit was K'Mag telling Hulkenburg to 'suck my balls, mate'

Really enjoyed it too. So much so that I am very much looking forward to Melbourne!

Cyril & Horner were my favourite scenes too hehe and Steiner comes across like a decent chap IMHO.

I wasn't impressed with Claire dealing with Lawrence. I can imagine he's a handful. She was like a scared puppy with him talking about mini-stroll's belts or whatever it was.

I remember watching that bit. Her face said it all "He's owning me". I almost wondered if he was giving her hard time just to see what her reaction would be. And what else could it be other than fear? She needed his bankrolling. I'm sure it is scary when a guy gives you tens of millions and send his son out in an F1 can with a seat he doesn't fit, a loose headrest and apparently something wrong with the belts confused

Then Lance's very rude radio messages about his headrest didn't put him a great light! Although to be fair I suppose there is a path of thought that if you can't even get the headrest to stay in place, any talk of podiums is pointless. I wonder if it was just the last straw..

Jackie Stewart - in his autobiography when talking about the junior teams he ran - mentioned the curse of the 'racing father', that by dint of them paying a handsome sum to get their lad in the car believe that a) their lad is the next Senna and b) that they then own the team. On 'b', he remarked that if you looked at the pure economics, they sort of do and this requires a certain care and attention, even if 'a' is so far from ever being the case.

Watched it all over the weekend, still not sure what to think

Some good behind the scenes insights, Cyrils line to Christian "Now he needs a driver and an engine" after poaching Ricciardo must have been right kick in the balls.

Considering English is a second language for most of them, they definitely have a decent grasp on how fk can be used in multiple ways laugh

I could have done without the dodgy sound effects, and the odd V8 sound dubbed over some shots.

I wonder what the future could hold for this show. It's certainly a good job well done so I have no doubt there will be more..

But it would be fantastic if they could find a way to shorten the gap between when they film and when we see the show. For example, seeing a the Cyril/Horner battle of words/wits was great to see in greater detail, but it would have been greater still had it been shown just a week or so after the events took place. It's a lot to ask for I know, but tighter integration of the shows release schedule with the current years F1 schedule would be fantastic.

I suppose the ambition and budget for future series will largely come down to how successful this first one is judged to be. Probably more than anything it will be judged by how many new people it helps bring to the sport.

I absolutely loved this series. Sure, it's perhaps pitched at the more casual viewer, has some scripted 'drama' added and was missing Merc and Ferrari but it was 10 episodes of entertainment on a subject that we're all obviously interested in - that can only be a good thing. I found it great to see some more of the behind the scenes, plenty of sweary antics, nothing sanitised in that respect which I appreciated. I also found it great to get to know some of the team managers a bit better. Really makes you feel more connected to them and better understanding of the team emotions.

Can't see Merc or Ferrari joining in next year though, given how the series portrayed some people/teams. Also I reckon it would have been better if this was launched around Christmas, to better bisect the offseason, rather than the week before race 1 but ho hum.

I thought the same but I think they'll be ok for more of the same in a new series.

Liberty must be incentivising the teams to take part somehow, probably financially. So I think if they're happy with this series and it's impact on the sport, the cameras will be back and there won't be very much the teams can do about it. Apart from the teams which don't need the money, so that would explain why Ferrari and Mercedes might have declined. There is also the indirect money, such as more exposure for sponsors.

Will the teams be more guarded next time? Again, I'm not so sure. Most of the drama we saw in this series came from the cameras being in place when something happened that was dramatic, the natural and honest responses to these things were mostly not direct to the shows cameras, but to other members of the team. So long as the cameras are there, I don't think they'll struggle to always capture plenty of reality. and Cyril and Christian will always be people that will try and use the show to get their own opinions and snipes about one another across.

I did laugh that Horner's dogs are called Bernie and Flav.
