Tyre strategies with pencils, halos with a chicken breastbone (I’m not making that one up) and I can’t even remember what it was he was trying to explain with his shopping bag that time. Utter tt.

Karun will be a total credit to the team, he knows how to explain the technical stuff to laypeople and has genuine experience of the field. Him and Anthony Davidson would have been a perfect pairing, AD looking after the driving analysis and KC the pit lane, strategies and technicals.
Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more, total F1 nerds like me and possibly you don't need that kind of explanation I agree but we're not the whole audience. There's also the casual watcher, people new to the sport, younger viewers who don't want/need anything too technical. As a sport F1 needs to appeal to those people too, Ted was good at that, nothing wrong with explaining the halo with a wishbone (of the chicken variety) everyone knows what that looks like. I think there is a need for that.

Looks like someone has been updating his Wiki entry:

"was a British Formula One pit-lane reporter who worked on Sky Sports F1"

"Net worth Priceless"

I quite like Ted.

Met him at the Italian GP one year and he was very funny - loads of stories that could never have been broadcast and with DC both seemed genuinely happy to chat to odd British fans.

Hill was a miserable so and so in comparison.

I allways enjoy Ted input personly, saying that i also like Karun, oh what a dilema to have, Karun is the font of all past F1 knolledge and Ted is, well Ted is just Ted, long may he rein in a befudled kind of way.

As like others I liked Ted and his way of presenting. Not a fan of Karun at all

He's staying!

https://motorsportbroadcasting.com/2019/02/25/ted-...

The article mentions that his contract wasn't renewed for 2019, but that the bosses at Sky have had a rethink and he will be part of the Sky F1 team for this season.

Anthony Davidson is staying, too. Apparently.

Too many cooks?

Jeez, how many people do we need to tell us what we can already see?

Good, sky need TK and AD...

With a bit of luck they will stick Herbert in the commentary when brundle has his 4 races off.

See, I've always thought that was a bit weird too.

Brundle is one of the lead commentators, along with Croft, yet his contract only stipulates that he works on 17(?) of the 21 races

Why is he not nailed down to do them all? Is it a simple case of Brundle stating that he quite likes the break and 17 is enough, or something else?

Either way, glad to see Kravitz retained if that's the case. His enthusiasm is in the right place.

Maybe it was negotiated to 17 due to his heart problems perhaps.

Possibly - could also be so he can see Alex in a few races live, ie the big ones like Le Mans/Spa etc? Just a thought, can't remember if he was off commentating duty in June last season? He's still his Dad after all, or am I being a big softy there?

Cant remember the races exactly but Di Resta done very well in the box, so did Herbert.

Can see Brundle coming out of the ‘box’ to be a super sage/special guest as such, the torch needs to be passed on to another for the grid walk and commentary imo...

I think he means why do Sky need 14 people on their presenting team, when about 6 would be sufficient.

Rachel Brookes
Martin Brundle
Jenson Button
Karun Chandhok
David Croft
Anthony Davidson
Paul Di Resta
Johnny Herbert
Damon Hill
Ted Kravitz
Simon Lazenby
Natalie Pinkham
Nico Rosberg
Craig Slater

EDIT - Missed off Craig Slater from the original list

The above would work for me - I love JH, but he doesn't add a great deal these days.

And Craig Slater, but of what value he is, I have no idea. I can't see any.

I'd lose Pinkham and keep Brookes - she's a far better interviewer.
