Red Bull defending Seb in AutoBild today, I think this move might just happen...
What move; Vettel to Red Bull?
Yep
Can't see it myself, Ricciardo handed him his arse and then subsequently Verstappen was none to shabby when it came to being Ricciardo's team mate; Verstappen would destroy Vettel.
I don’t think that’s there concern, it’s bagging P2 in the WCC, not who’s the tallest dwarf.

I don't think it's the team's concern that would stop it from happening, more the driver not wanting or needing to enter that situation.

OCO at Haas might just save BOT’s arse for 2020 too.

I was gonna say Couthard for Red Bull, but then I realised after watching him on TV, he never really left.

Yes I understood he was like that the year after he retired but he is still in red bulls pocket.

Mercedes replacing Bottas with Ocon would be a backwards step.

Grosjean and Magnussen are doing themselves no favours crashing into each other.

A few have mentioned they would like to see Magnussen at Ferrari to back up LeClerc. Ferrari already has someone who can't race wheel to wheel so why replace him with another? biggrin

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I see Pietro Fittipaldi is their reserve driver so I doubt the team would want him to step in for a race if it happens again.

I agree - Bottas is under threat from Russell, not Ocon.

Russell has kept his head down at Williams, put Kubica in his place (sadly, I hasten to add), been flawless in interviews with the team ethos for Williams ("working together, moving forwards, happy with progress, work to do", etc), no criticism in public and generally being all round calm.

Ocon can goto Haas; Russell needs to be in a Merc and groomed for Hamilton replacement in 2/3 years time, once Hamilton beats Schumacher / gets bored.

Russell is a very good shout. Totally agree with what you have stated. Considering the car he has been extremely impressive.

Personally, I feel he needs to be in a midfield team first before making the big step to Mercedes but I really hope he does get the chance to move from Williams for 2020.

But where could he go?

I don’t feel Russel needs to be mid field first - he was mega impressive in the junior categories (which are still bloody fast/close racing) and has handled himself very well at Williams in quite testing times - I say give him the chance for sure.

Ferrari's options are pretty weak looking down the grid. Giovanazzi Grosgean Kmag or back to Kimi. Young Schumacher needs another year in gp 2

Agreed - overall, he was more consistent and faster than Norris in F2. Now, I admit, I'm a huge Norris fan (over and above Russell), but Russell (IMHO) has the potential to be better - I think Norris can fight / overtake better, but like Button, if the car's a bit "off" he suffers by comparison (this was the case in F2 anyway) - but Russell is going to prove faster over a season in the same car.

I'm not going off what I want, I'm going off what has been publicly said. Mathew Carter was pretty certain about it last week.

Depends on Vettel. If he stays until the end of his contract then they are fine for 2020. Equal status and leave them both to race.

If not then Ferrari will need to get someone who is fast. Ricciardo would be my pick.

Kimi could be taken back to support LeClerc but I just can't see that being a positive move.

I like to think and it has been rumoured that DR and his management have engineered a contract with Renault that would allow him to jump ship to one of the top two teams should the opportunity arise. I can’t see how Vettel continuing beyond this season is beneficial to anyone, he is finished, well certainly in the red car anyway.
Ricciardo and Leclerc in the Ferrari would be a pairing I would absolutely love to see.

it'd be great to see, but with lec "almost there" I can't see ferrari employing a top dick driver and risk upsetting their happy little house. More likely call up kimi or go after someone they see as quick and consistent enough but not too dangerous, such as bottas. Or maybe Perez; would be funny if they employed someone like Perez but underestimated what he might do given the chance.

Not sure I rate Ricciardo as highly as some (or himself). He's a bit of no man's land for me, if I were a top team. He's not a superstar at the level of Vettel or Hamilton, but he's not as young or cheap as a Leclerc or Russell.

Plus when he wins he drinks out of his shoe. Come on... smile
