I think he is doing quite well, and as said above he has shown some amazing overtaking moves on lap one, remember that most drivers get to F1 with the help of money, no money no drive for all aspiring F1 drivers.

Doesn’t mean it is inferior though does it? Right now you’ve got a stable team with a businessman who has continued to invest in junior teams he set up along the way, and yes a driver who is his son.

What’s to say a Russian owner wouldn’t have dodgy money and insist on a talentless Russian driver.

Does rather remind me of the old joke...
Dad asks son what he'd like as a christmas present. Son asks for a cowboy outfit so his daddy bought him Force India.

I didn’t say the bid was better; you asked what other options the administrator had

So you’re criticising Force India for ‘taking the Stroll money’ and having his son drive, but your alternative is a Russian conrtim lead by Dmitry Mazepin who’s lead driver would be his son Nikita, who hasn’t turned a wheel in F1.

Lance Stroll has more F1 podiums than Nico Hulkenberg.

Yes the money helps but he wouldn't be there if he wasn't quick enough.

Such as? They obviously thought this was the best/ safest option. I’ve got several friends who are employed at the team so I’m good with their decision (as are they)

Sour grapes?

And let's not forget the other bid for the team made by Rich Energy...

But does he have more than his team mate?

He is nothing special, let's leave it at that.

His money would always get him to f1, just like Diniz, who also shone the odd time in his time.

But does he deserve to be there on talent? no.

He deserves to be there because his Dad is filthy rich and that is what F1 is all about.

He doesn't deserve to be there on talent, so there is only 1 alternative as I see it!

Which seems to be Daddy's money - another wasted seat! banghead

I'm sure all the people working at Racing Point who can now afford to pay their mortgages etc don't see it as a wasted seat.

Lets not forget the guy has won championships and has been on the podium. You don't do that with nothing but money but it certainly helps.

I can't think of any racing series where a driver has got there on talent and nothing else. It always takes money at some point along the ladder.

The money certainly helped him win the championships he won, not to mention cherry picking those championships to maximise his chances.

Time will tell; he’s certainly not looked the real thing in F1 yet. A lucky podiums in an unusual situation isn’t really a pointer.

It’s more relevant that he can’t beat his teammate, himself a pretty ordinary F1 driver, whose main (only?) talent is nursing a set of tyres occasionally.

I think it’s sad that the likes of Ocon are sitting it out while the likes of these two have solid ‘contracts’. Particularly Stroll.

He's sitting in Ocon's seat, we all know why!

He did last year. And Perez speaks well of him this year.

I actually think he's quick enough to deserve a place. I'd probably keep him around over a handful of other drivers on the grid this year. Not Ocon though.

There are 19 other seats in F1. If Ocon was so much better he would be in one of them unless, of course, everyone thinks all the drivers have their seats because of money and nothing else.

Maybe Kimi should step down. He's only doing it as a hobby after all. Why don't Lewis and Seb step down? They've won many championships so maybe they should give someone else a chance?

Perez is always going to speak well of him..... your not going to bite the hand that feeds you and he also has the upper hand over Stroll in performance terms. He'll quite happily go out each weekend, beat Stroll and then sing Stroll's praises....

The question is..... Stroll or Ocon? for me it's Ocon every time!

Have a friend working at Racing Point and they all really like him! He is well regarded, looks after the car and says nice things about them. Money or not, he is the driver they want at the moment!

Also there are flashes of what a good driver he is, qualy for Monza in 2017 springs to mind when he out qualified the guy who everyone thinks should be in his seat!

I am not saying Ocon isn't fast or shouldn't be in a car, quite the opposite but Stroll has earned his seat now, money or not.

Ignoring last years dog of a car he was in and drawing a line under it, looking at this year where he is a reasonable car against a well regarded team mate..

Stroll beat Perez in Aus and his FL was faster than Perez - Stroll gains 7 positions, Perez loses 3
Perez beat Stroll in Bahrain and his FL was slower than Perez - They both gained 4 positions
Perez beat Stroll in China but his FL was faster than Perez - They both gained 4 positions

On the above, I can't really see why he is being berated to be honest. That said, Stroll needs to get on top of his Saturdays, if he can do this I think Perez is in trouble!

True - but Perez didn't have to say he thought Stroll was better than previous team mates.

Ocon or Grosjean?
Ocon or Kvyat?
Ocon or Kubica?
Ocon or whoever seems to have taken Gasly's place this year?
