Joy Rainey - Hill Climb Champion for 22 years in her McLaren

I was at Prescott today and saw Joy Rainey in her lovely McLaren. She was giving folks a ride up the hill in aid of the Rotary club.

I thought I'd mention her on these pages as there might be some who are unaware of this remarkable lady.

The driver's seat has thick bolsters to move her forward in the seat. The foot pedals have been extended, affixed to a bracket on the floor just in front of the seat. In the front boot [froot/frunk?] there is a crane which winches her little scooter in and out. See her scooter on the right of the photo, sorry I chopped half of it off....

Yes, indeed. Her trips across the USA and Australia in her 1904 Oldsmobile curved dash make a wonderful read.

Sad news from Australia is that Joy Rainey passed away 17/1/20 whilst on a trip to her home country.
RIP Joy.
