Just Been Presented with Weekend Tickets for Spa GP...
Discussion
Evening all.
The wife and kids have just given me family weekend tickets to the the Spa GP. As you can imagine I am very happy about this.
Mrs Chips also booked Camping at the circuit for the weekend.
What she didn't book was any crossing of the channel. I'm probably going for the Euro Tunnel to avoid going on a boat.
So, I'm looking for any tips on driving to the Circuit campsite. And any general tips and advise for a first time visitor to Spa with a wife, a 9 and and an 11 year old.
Many thanks

Nice surpise, great place to watch F1 real sense of atmosphere vs silverstone airfield.
Dover to Dunkirk on DFDS (I think it used to be called Norfolk line its ages since I last went to Spa but that was a good route.

If your there for the weekend, would always recommend spending one day exploring the track and taking in the various viewpoints and deciding which you want to be at come raceday.
Then Sunday getting up early to your chosen place and you probably need to stay put for the day as so busy difficult to move around.
Be prepared for a long walk and there are considerable gradient changes as you go around the circuit. Amazing when you stand at Les Combes and look back to La Source as to the scale of the facility and size of the track.
Be prepared for all weather eventualities, and expect it to change very quickly! (can probably rule out snow, unlike what we had when we went to the WEC over May Bank holiday!). You can be sat in sunshine and seeing it raining at the other end of the circuit and watching it come in
Fantastic track Spa and can see the best aspects of an F1 car depending on viewpoint.
i.e
Flat Out:- Kemmel Straight
Heavy Braking:- Les Combes/Chicane
Change in Direction and Commitment:- Eau Rouge / Raidillon / Blanchimont
Commitment, Downforce, Edge of Grip:- Pouhon
When i was there for the WEC the food and drink outlets all work off a token system so if you are intending to buy in the circuit you need to go and get tokens first. Not sure what the situation is between La Source and Eau Rouge as they had made it a much longer walk to get between since the WRX track was built (maybe dismantled now as event has happened?).

Thanks all.
We are on the yellow campsite and have tickets for Gold Grandstand 11. Last chicane I think.
We are going on via the tunnel. I don't do sailing. Its cost a small fortune due to booking so late.
As you have grandstand tickets you won't need to be up at/before the crack of dawn, it's the GAers who get there from 6.30. Don't know the Gold 11 grandstand but all of the gold grandstands are between the Bus Stop and Eau Rouge so the Yellow campsite is the right end of the circuit for where you are sitting. We are on the yellow campsite and have tickets for Gold Grandstand 11. As the campsite is (advertised as) only 1K from the track, walk don't be tempted to drive, the traffic can be chaotic especially on race day.
Enjoy.
