Lol Max pulling no punches in his criticism of Nico Rosberg after he said he had gone back to his old ways with his Spa crash.
Speaking to Dutch media about Rosberg’s remarks, Verstappen said: “I think he is the new Jacques Villeneuve. Villeneuve has changed quite a bit, but it seems that Rosberg now and again wants to give a contrary opinion.
“But I really don't care what he says on his channels anyway. He does it very often. At the beginning of this year he even called me a narcissist. That is very extreme.”
Verstappen reckoned Rosberg was speaking out so much only because he was trying to boost the viewcount of his YouTube channel – and reckons the German should have stayed a racing driver if he had wanted to earn more money.
“He has got no charisma and he doesn’t get to work anywhere,” added Verstappen. “But hey, that's also his problem.
“Maybe he also wants to make money with his YouTube channel. But then he could have been better off driving, because then he could have earned much more money.”
I'm not a particular fan of Rosberg, but even I have to admit the comparison with Villeneuve since retirement is a bit harsh.Speaking to Dutch media about Rosberg’s remarks, Verstappen said: “I think he is the new Jacques Villeneuve. It looks increasingly like Mercedes could crash Ferrari’s party on Sunday
I'm sure they will. It's worth noting too that normally when Lewis is only fractionally behind the red cars in practice, it's because he pushed only until merc know they can beat them, without actually doing so. Until quali of course. It's happened countless times.I expect a Merc win here on race pace. I also strongly suspect that if quali goes smoothly they will qualify p1 and P2 or 3.
Of course, things may not go smoothly at all. The weather on Sunday looks to be at best wildly unpredictable and at worst, a day of solid rain. Lewis might like a wet race but if it's pouring down then all bets are off - anything could happen.
On the other hand... you seen the weather for Sunday? At best it looks highly unpredictable, at worst it's gonna rain hard. Lewis may like a wet race once in a while but if it's a constant downpour then anything could happen, all bets would be off.
At very least it's almost certain to rain heavily sometime before the race - they know rain is coming, even if not exactly when just yet. That will reset the track to a degree and whatever is learned today/tomorrow likely won't be all that relevant come Sunday. I'm quite glad of that... I love Monza as a circuit, but it can be a little predictable once the order is established - always good to throw in a few unknowns to shuffle things up a bit.
In many ways, one of the most shocking/exciting thing that a bit of rain could bring is the prospect of Ferrari losing out to Mercedes AND Red Bull here. That would be a dramatic and poor result at their home race. The RB's were really very, very close today in slightly mixed up conditions, it's just the Merc's were even closer. Certainly the gaps between the top 6 cars were slim enough for weather or the tiniest of mistakes by any team/driver to have a far greater impact on the outcome than the performance delta between the cars in question. Whenever I try an envisage a Ferrari win I also remind myself that more often than not there is a mistake made at some point... So tiny pace gaps in their favour during fast laps is equally often not indicative of how their race will play out.
Ferrari basically need to cross their fingers, hope the weather is as benign as possible and that they can get through quali and the race without any mistakes being made. Statistically I have to say their chances are therefore not brilliant.

Yes the amount of dry raes there have been ferrari must really be curseing the likliness of rain at their home event.
Their car is pretty crap in the rain it seems. Obviously their speed advantage is all but nullified for starters - but also they have to run higher down force if rain is expected and that appears to take away their speed advantage to a greater degree than it brings their cornering ability close to what Mercedes / Red Bull achieve.Just catching up on interviews today and I see Leclerc actually said basically the same thing. Rain = really bad news. But to be fair to their opponents, even without the prospect of rain I think today showed it was dangerously close across the top 6, and as ever we never really know if Mercedes were really pushing or simply learning what they need to by simply keeping up.

Brilliant. I'm not a fan of Rosberg's youtube channel, he's rapidly going down the clickbait & drama route to increase views.Speaking to Dutch media about Rosberg’s remarks, Verstappen said: “I think he is the new Jacques Villeneuve. He says some interesting and insightfiul things sometimes, generally when interviewing TP's and senior figures in his podcasts. But I agree, whenever he's 'zany' or trying to subtly show off his wealth, I think he's a bellend. I think it even more when he tries to drive controversy and then invites a social media mass reaction.Monza quiz: https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.quiz-pu...

Qualifying could be carnage with the tows. The F3 qualifying was red flagged and results declared early because pretty much all the drivers were engaged in a game of ‘who blinks first’ approaching the Parabolica.
I watched the F3 qualifying. Never seen anything like it. Cars flying through the Ascari chicane to find 10 cars slowly weaving around on the straight. Coulthard has said a few times this season that slow moving cars during qualifying is going to end in tears at some point.

This was commented on by quite a few PH'ers last weekThe slow out laps combined with drivers jockeying for position. Then the speed difference between them and a car on a hot lap.
