Channel 4 have been granted the right to show 70% of each Grand Prix in 2020 compared to 50% in 2019. They can now also show it 2 1/2 hours after the Grand Prix ends compared to 3 hours last year.

Pleasantly surprised at that.

Likewise. I wonder if LM are concerned about falling viewing figures.

They should be.

Thank goodness. I have Sky F1 as part of the package and, frankly, it’s awful. I much prefer watching the highlights on ffwd on C4. I’ve got better things to do on any given Sunday than watch the bore-fest that is live F1

That’s really good news, the edits this last year were too short to be able to follow the story of the race.

Seems reasonable.

That's a bit better.

Maybe somebody has finally realised that the UK market really is important to F1.

I thought 50% was too long for some of the races this year.

With SKY holding the rights, it is surely in their gift, unless Liberty are rebating them for the concession.

I am sorely tempted to switch - if only C4 did not “pad” their coverage with adverts.

The ads are no problem, I just record it, start watching it say 20 mins after the broadcast started and skip them all. Nothing gets list due to add unlike if they out them in a live broadcast.

That’s good to see, I’d like to see them put the highlights on no later than 9pm on Sunday eve as well to make it more accessible to most people.

Probably down to Sky realising that they are onto a loser with the current set up and trying to create a situation where the audience fall off slows down or stops. If more people come back to F1 or become new F1 viewers due to better free access coverage, some of them might be tempted to take out a Sky subscription.

I think this should be a good move.

I think that's exactly it Eric. They went too far and locked so much away behind the paywall that there was not enough left for free to tempt people to pay for live.

This is an improvement and if it yields results hopefully more will follow. By more I mean showing a few races live each year to remind folk of the value of watching live. That's ultimately what sky are trying to sell after all.

That's good news..
The Sky coverage is way too bloated with what seems like an entire day of build-up to the race (Though the GP2/GP3 races can be a good watch) and though he's probably a fine fellow, David Croft just wrecks my head (Though I do still like Martin Brundle's insight).

The C4 highlights with F1 in its current condition, are plenty and the commentary listenable.

I’ve Sky F1 and don’t see why you’d think it’s awful?

Sky F1 is awful because:

- Croft
- Lazenby
- Herbert (responsible for some of this most cringeworthy TV I've ever seen)

Considering how much it costs, it's rubbish. I had the NowTV annual pass last season. Won't be a repeat customer.

I don't have the energy to hate sky coverage as much as some do... In the end the build up can be ignored but the race is live which is what really matters, the commentary is decent thanks to Brundle.

Having said that, I am forced to agree it's not worth the money they demand for it. I'll pay because I can afford it and I want to watch live - but that doesn't mean I think it's good value for money. The price is undeniably rediculous.
