Well, at this bleak time of the year, I always enjoyed the Race of Champions as a bit of out-of-season entertainment. I attended a few events live including the memorable Stade de France and Wembley editions.

No sign of any activity in 2020 after the mediocre showing in Mexico last year - I can't see any relevant press releases - has it died a death ??

According to their twitter they are ‘working hard on their next event(s).’

Does sound a bit bleak though frown

I think to be honest the last few vents have been so woefully poor as to suggest it has run its course.

They have been basically taking to anyone that will pay for it, provide the stadium etc.

It lost its appeal many years ago when it became all tarmac.

if you could go back to what it was originally, a proper race f champions it could be great again, but it needs to be in rally cars, not buggies and utterly awful things like Porsche Caymans or whatever.

Saying that, you know that now they would have electric stuff in there and who wants to pay to see that live?

Quite a lot of people.

You know all those that said they hated that books were dying out and that you'd never find them with a Kindle in their hand or other e-reader?

Sorry, I just don't get the hate for electric motorsport, but perhaps that is because I have been to quite a few all electric and part electric events and once you get your head round the whine, not growl, it's all mechanically propelled goodness.

As for RoC - to be honest i think that it died when it moved from Teneriffe, Wembely, et all, have just been a long drawn out death rattle.

I wouldn’t say the EVs are hated but many, especially those used to traditional motorsport don’t find it if interest.

I have tried to watch a few FE races but never managed to keep interest to anywhere near the end.

I put the recent Santiago (?) race on the other day; as it came up it was on a long shot from above. I genuinely thought it was a SC period, they really look slow.

I guess it’s improving but still a long way to go.

As for the RoC, you’re right.

I'm not sure it's bleak; we've just had the Dakar, and this weekend see the Rolex 24 at Daytona, plus Rallye Monte-Carlo......

As for the RoC - either bin it off completely or move it back 'home' to Gran Canaria.......

It’s been crap for the past few years just a daft Micky mouse course it needs to go back to the Gran Canaries and use a proper big layout with real rally cars and facilities for a decent crowd in warm conditions.

IE not freezing your nuts off watching these super star drivers messing around in 1st and 2nd year on a tennis court sized track in a cold and miserable Wembley, that was over priced and lacked any atmosphere.

Like most "big" sports events kt was a thing to be touted for money to any available bidder, like championships rounds for things like WTCC, WRX, F1 SBK etc.

It started become a parody of itself and used that money to attract names like Vettel, Kristensen, DC etc, and simply died a death in venues that did not really mean much using awful cars and simply being a sort of car park autotest with a few big names. It's only saving grace was the time of year. But like the NEC show that was it's ONLY attraction, but it made money for sure.

It will not be missed.

needs to go back to the Canaries? The cars are too quick/big for the stadium circuits, let them run free again :-)

proper hooning in a stadium truck or hanging out a group B S1

I wish we still had the International Race of Champions that used to be held at Brands Hatch.

yeah I struggle to warm to formula squE. I still pop it on but often end up not paying attention, there might be some action but much of the problem is street circuits generally produce clumsy looking racing.

As for RoC, given they have all manner of this and that I wouldn't spit my dummy if some of that was electric, like said it's a bit of fun. It's a bit sad when countries are lining up to shut down city centres (which comes at some cost) to host a formula squE event but the RoC plonked right in the off season when every petrolhead is gagging can't be made to work.

Is anyone ever impressed by the addition of "hard" in these notices?
