I'd love for Kimi to have a home GP at his near-namesake circuit. Finland is one of only two countries to have produced F1 World Champions without ever holding an F1 race in the country. I'm not sure that the weather would be suitable that close to the Arctic Circle in April though...

Had me scratching my head over that one. I'll put the spoiler tags in for anyone playing along at home.

I can't see it happening. China is a strong circuit for Merc, based on last year. It's very likely that, enough teams will think any replacement will favour the competition for there to be opposition. Add in one less long haul race, meaning they save money and everything has to do one less race, in what was already looking like a long season, and there will blockages.

They are looking at slotting the China GP back in between Brazil and Abu Dhabi and making it a two day event.

I couldn't say the exact number of teams that would approve this proposal but I can confidently say it will be fewer than 1.

But what we don't know is what the contract is with the teams. There will no doubt be many clauses...

My feelings too. I can't see what incentive the teams have in further complicating what is the most hectic season they have already been pushed in to going along with. They are fully justified at this point to say 'enough is enough - we stick to the plan we agreed to'. And obviously taking the Chinese GP out of that plan is far less disruptive and expensive for the teams than then trying to shoe-horn it back in somewhere else/some other time.

The logistics of Brazil > China > Abu Dhabi on consecutive weeknds doesn't seem straightforward.

Most stuff is shipped over a month in advance by boat. The reason China had to be decided now is that the kit was leaving next week (IIRC). So it would just be the cars and personnel. Though I agree it would be very hard on them.
