My post was merely to draw attention to the fact that BTCC (just as an example) is resolutely male-centric. I don't recall ever seeing a female driver.
Fiona Leggett? Paula Cook? Louise Atken-Walker? Sure, it's not many, but there have been a few.

So what the article should have said was: Motorsport is so incredibly 'woke' that it attracted a trans driver, before most people knew trans existed.
Thanks for the link threespires.

It's unfortunate his/her Mosquito project never came off.

If Ms Poppy Snowflake would like to get her arse over to the main campsite at the Red Bull Ring she might complete her education about F1 (that's after she's woken up because she will faint when she gets there).

It's about as "Woke" as John McCririck when he'd had a few, it's about as PC as the 70's soft porn film "Confessions of a Habitual wker", but you know what (and Ms Snowflake wouldn't notice) it's very inclusive, men, women, couples, gay couples, white, black, Peruvian Llama farmers (got to be honest I didn't actually see any Peruvian Llama farmers), doesn't matter, everyone is there to share the experience of a Grand Prix, have a bloody good time and try to remember where their tent was at the end of the night.

Like the rest of the real world, the people on that campsite came together to share something that unites them not worry about their differences.

An article which was almost as outdated when it was published as the 1970s stereotypes to which it refers.

I ran out of energy after a few paragraphs but did she mention the mixed-race multiple and reigning world champion by any chance?

I don't think the metro-sexual, animal loving vegan being the most celebrated driver of our era suited her hackneyed agenda too well, so no.

‘Woke’ schmoke. If this load of old balls infiltrates motorsports, there really is no hope left.

As a Guardian-reading, vegan, leftie I always avoid articles with the word "woke" in them ... it makes my life less stressful. It doesn't matter what point they are trying to make (pro or anti what I happen to believe) they will always be badly written pieces with a poorly thought out agenda.

Haha more utter disconnected tripe from the msm huh? Written by a bitter journalist, huh?

Don't these libtards understand everything they believe is wrong yet?

I knew there was a reason I like f1 and motor sport. Now that the "woke" don't approve, just makes me like it even more and reaffirms how natural and balanced motor sport is.

Nothing constructive to add, just wanted to add my support to the lack of support for liberal mentalism.

This is the whole problem, they wear this badge of "liberalism" but they're not, they are full blown fascists because they will not tolerate anyone who does not conform to their woke vison and resort to extreme tactics to suppress non-conforming views.

"Full blown fascists"

Ever heard of the liberal antifa? They swap their black uniforms for face masks and baseball bats.

Crikey - some vein popping outrage going on in this thread , and all over one feather weight souffle of copy. . A cynic might conclude that everyone who likes cars and motorsport must have unresolved anger management issues and actively seek excuses to rage about anyone whose views are , y'know, not quite as right wing as their own ...

they're cowering to an authoritarian elitist ideal that pandered to far enough will be as close to facism as makes no difference. Whether they'll take us there or whether the sensibles on the sidelines can reintroduce them to rational thought we'll have to see.

But yes, we need to reclaim the word liberal from these idiots.

I thought neo liberals were actually reclaiming the L word from what most of us undertand as liberal? Or does that make me a ...ummm 'libtard' and /or ' mentalist' , or whatever the insult du jour is ?

An Article written by someone with no interest in watching F1 for readers that also have no interest in watching F1 but lets complain about it anyway.

Maybe if you read more than a few lines you'd realise 'she' was still male when she had her cars and if you read further on motorsort doesn't seem as enlightened as you think. After the war ," 1954, her two business ventures, a racing car engineering company (Leacroft of Egham) and a clothing company had both ceased trading and her change of legal gender had made it impossible for her to continue Grand Prix motor racing"
Not as inclusive as you make out! wink
