I can't see Ferrari being that slow. Falling behind Redbull I could easily believe but the gap back to the mid-field is (or at least was) huge!
If they are behind red bull this season, what else matters? In terms of losing face it's all very well being in a 'battle' with the champions Mercedes each year, because they're another old and respected car maker. A fizzy drinks company though!? That would cause an upset.Deesee said:
Not looking great for Ferrari slowest on the gps on slow corners..
Indeed, same as last year. I'm sure in many ways the car is a step up from last year and could be spectacular, but it looks for now like they need to identify what isn't hooking up and sort it ASAP. They're stuck with their base concept but at very least there should be learnings from last year that show on this years car. They still have time however, and no shortage of resource. The RP is last years Merc though, effectively. With a winter's development too. But yeah...Ferrari stand to risk coming 4th behind Merc, a fizzy drink and some bottled water.
However much they've copied, I'd be moderately surprised if RP beat Mclaren and Renault this year let alone Ferrari. Happy to be proven wrong, but there's an awful lot to an F1 car's performance which you can't replicate with a photocopier. If Ferrari have gone backwards that far they can always revert to last year's car.
I'm still a little sceptical of the RP's actual pace, looks to be like they have done a few glory runs. I do expect them to be competitive at least early on though.
I have to say the midfield looks tight, looking at long runs the Red Bull looks good, Mercedes ominious and Mclaren seem to have a good car again too, they've been keeping cards very close to the chest and don't seem to be going for headline times.

I agree. They will have moved up and could interfere with the battle for fourth I think. But in the end, the team has to back up the car through the season and clearly the RP outfit is not the equivalent of the Merc outfit. Also, in the end one of their drivers is a pay driver and isn't exactly setting the world alight.grassomaniac said:
Sorry I was referring to Mclaren and Red Bull about headline times, I'm well aware both Mercedes drivers topped the time sheets today.
I was replying in general, not to you specifically Yea.. Mercedes are off on their own race I think. The stuff worth debating is more like 4th place this season.
