Formula 1 Pre-season Testing February 2020

Ferrari seem to be doing some sandbagging with not having run the PU at full power yet.
I know it's probably wishful thinking but just imagine if this whole "we are behind Mercedes and Red Bull" is just Ferrari playing everyone and when they turn up the PU in Melbourne we see the real Ferrari pace.
I just want a competitive season at the top

... and only to find out that both Mercedes and Red Bull were sandbagging too I know it's probably wishful thinking but just imagine if this whole "we are behind Mercedes and Red Bull" is just Ferrari playing everyone and when they turn up the PU in Melbourne we see the real Ferrari pace.

It would be nice to think they've not shown their cards yet, but the problem area is low speed corner downforce and traction - both elements that power unit settings don't influence much (in fact you could say running PU's in a half baked manner flatters any traction issues because the rear end doesn't have the maximum level of torque being transmitted). They were left very embarrassed for 2 years on the trot after showing well in testing and having nothing left come Melbourne, so their change of tact would make sense, but it looks unlikely they've built a championship winning car ahead of the first race.I know it's probably wishful thinking but just imagine if this whole "we are behind Mercedes and Red Bull" is just Ferrari playing everyone and when they turn up the PU in Melbourne we see the real Ferrari pace.

It's hard to say where they are; I think they're not as far behind as they're publicly stating, but I wouldn't expect a role reversal in Melbourne - they're likely to be behind Red Bull as well on single lap pace, and it'll be down to tyre wear in race conditions, and that hasn't been spoken about much in testing bar the DAS system that looks handy for keeping the fronts alive longer, helping prolong a stint.

Hmmm... I didn't enjoy the red bull dominance as much as I have ended up enjoying Mercedes dominance. I think because Mercedes have dominated for so long now it's stopped being boring and become undeniably impressive.
I think it’s also the way they have conducted themselves. Letting both drivers compete rather than the RB approach of having Seb as a clear No 1. And of course the joviality and honesty of Toto (and Niki) as opposed to the C Horner winning years garyhun said:

Agree. Mercedes have done it all with a degree of class and sportsmanship. Does tend to make each result count for a little more in my view.cuprabob said:

2:20, Bottas.
Puncture or das failure? Seems to leave a chunk of something on the track and the left hand wheel seems awfully floppy, it's more than likely a puncture and it's knocked a bit of body work off, just seems to fight the steering first, then it goes and it maybe my eyes that see the whole assembly moving.

According to zac RacingPoint is now known around the paddock as copy point.
Was amusing hearing karen flailing about trying to think of a dig against mclaren after zac left the comm box.
Reminded us of spygate at mclaren. Totally different individuals from the distant past.
At least RP only have this year to shine as its difficult to copy a car for 2021 you wont see till 2021.

Old proverb say "when copying someone else's homework, ensure you change more than just the colour of the ink on the paper". Was amusing hearing karen flailing about trying to think of a dig against mclaren after zac left the comm box.

My old Physics master at school had an interesting response to copying. Any pupils caught copying would have their marks apportioned between them. So if the plagiarised work was worth 6/10, and was copied by one person, then each person would be marked 3/10. If copied by 2 other people, each person would get 2/10. (Obviously not applicable here, but I thought I would mention it for amusement)
