The Official F1 2021 silly season *contains speculation*
Discussion
Ferrari's reserve drivers with F1 experience are listed as Giovinazzi and Pascal Wehrlein. So if Seb walks early, would be one of those two taking the seat for the rest of this year.
Kubica is reserve driver for Alfa.
Mercedes, McLaren and Racing Point all have the same two reserve drivers listed: Vandoorne and Gutierrez. So if those teams have some kind of outbreak that takes out their drivers, someone's gonna need to go shopping

FIA can, I think do pretty much anything in extremis; e.g. waive super licence points requirementsKubica is reserve driver for Alfa.

Is Ocon something special? There has been a lot of hype surrounding him but has he had f1 results to back it up?
He's destined to be another midfield journeyman, or, if he's lucky, number 2 at a big team. He's another Grosjean - flashes of speed, but ultimately disappointing.JVCraddock said:

He took out Max whilst unlapping himself at Interlagos, causing a bit of a media hoo-har, some teenage pushing and shoving in the weight check room, some grumpy posturing from Mr Horner...and smirks from everyone else.I think he has the talent, his psychology needs a bit of work though.

I'm with you on this one. I think his fame is that he beat Verstappen in the lower formula previously. He was a bit jealous of Verstappen and hence his arrogance as a backmarker to battle with Max in Brazil (you wouldn't imagine a backmarker getting in the way of Mansell or Schaumacher in the old days).
In his last season at Spa in Force India (Racing Point?) he would concede to Hamilton when they were fighting for position. A future potential champion would be too fired up and too stubborn to concede. I don't think he has that fire so I think he will end up being another middle runner.

Renault's best chance of headline worthy results probably is fun and drama right now so on that sole basis... Welcome back Alonso

I think both he and Russell improved their stock yet again after qualifying.I know Russell just has to wait it out for what is surely a Mercedes drive at some point, but there surely can't be a driver on the grid more deserving of a better seat? There can't be many drivers who have never been out qualified by a team mate. 23-0 now.

I’d love to see Russell in the Mercedes next year, I don’t know what else he can do to show his worth. He’s consistently outperformed his car since he arrived in F1, and he just has that ‘thing’ you can’t quite put your finger on. He just belongs in F1. I have a feeling however, Mercedes will stick with Bottas on another year long contract. That being so, can they please shoe horn him in somehow at Aston Martin next year. Showing what he can do in an upper mid field team will get everyone’s attention.
