Bit sad that someone gets attacked as a failure because he just happened to be there when a giant talent was in the same team.
Its not like the old days where the best could have an off day due to their lifestyle or car breakage thus you win a title.
All the other findus have had it easy in comparison.
The future is bright for Valterri. Couple more years at Mercedes then team leader somewhere else where the new formula may just suit him.

Grosjean has announced that he is leaving Haas after 5 years, and the rumours have been both drivers are set to leave. Magnusson to announce next?

Magnusson has just announced he is leaving Haas at the end of the season too.

Hulkenberg and Ilott to take their places?

They have both had their chances over an extended period so time for some new blood.

They have both done their fair share of on track gardening over their time in F1 and never seen to have grown out of it.

Even Max finally grew out of it.

Hopefully this is the start of a re-jig of the driver market. Its been a bit static for a few years now. Hopefully the opportunity for some new drivers to come up through the ranks, though it does seem the budget the driver can bring is as/more important than talent.

Can't remember a time when both seats at one team were wide open in terms of speculation.

Schumacher, Perez, Russell (!), Mazepin, Ilott, Armstrong, Hulkenberg

Finally, this should have happened years ago. It is one of the great mysteries in life as to how Grosjean has managed to stay in F1 for so long with no results to back it up.

Personally I am hoping Latifi, Kvyat and Giovinazzi join them as they have also had plenty of time to impress and constantly failed to do so.

I also think Albon and Ocon are clinging on with their fingertips as they are both being shown up by their team mates.

How long can Raikkonen carry on with F1 as "a hobby"

I wonder how long Aston Martin will continue to pay Vettel's wages if he is constantly shown up by Stroll?

Alfa like Kimi and Vasseur has said as long as he wants to continue they’ll continue with him.

Giovanazzi should be out IMO, failed to impress at all. Eat one of the Ferrari academy drivers in.

Albon might be moved back to AT with Gasly and Kyvat out again. Ocon has been solid but not spectacular but yes, needs to up his game massively against Ricciardo.

Can we give Vettel at least half a season with AM before we start questioning him again? He’s not even driven for them yet! I wonder though, if he does get beaten by Stroll will many still proclaim Stroll is only here thanks to his Daddy, or will they say he deserves to be in F1?

Forum experts will still say he's st, and he'll only beat Vettel because Vettel is broken and/or deliberately hobbled by the team.

Even if Stroll went to Mercedes and beat Hamilton some people still wouldn't accept he's good enough.

I thought Hulk had said Haas wasn't an option for him - not sure if it's because Haas need money or because he doesn't want to drop so far down the grid.

Exactly, it would just reinforce that the Mercedes is the best car by several seconds a lap, Hamilton has been very lucky, and Bottas shouldn't even have a provisional licence.

Joe Saward is offering/speculating/musing:

Schumacher and Mazepin at Haas;

PER and LAT at Williams if Williams can't raise some cash (to keep RUS in a race seat);

Alfa Romeo unchanged.

Perfect team to bring in fresh blood. Can pay them peanuts and might get lucky - for a year or two until they get swiped by another team if they prove decent.

Latifi has had two-thirds of a season? He's also a lot closer to Russell than Kubica was.

Ocon has also had two-thirds of a season in the Renault? He needs to do better, but Ricciardo isn't a slouch.

I thought he'd go this year but it seems as long as he outpaces his team-mate (as this year) he's in. He's solid, reliable, doesn't bin it big-style at Pouhon.
I actually thought Giovinazzi would be exiting as he's not shown much.

Please. He hasn't even sat in the car yet.

Surely Mercedes should pony up some money to keep Russel in his seat? He is being kept in the wings by them to be a replacement for a 7 or 8 times world champion.

How does the poor lad deal with the fact he has beaten both team mates he has had, is lined up to replace one of the greatest drivers of all time but this isn’t enough and may be without a drive next season?
