Quali head to head, Lewis over 1 second up at turn 7!
That’s a bit more than we thought!
Anyone who doesn’t crash IMMEDIATELY is a superhero in those things. Staggering. Quali head to head, Lewis over 1 second up at turn 7!
That’s a bit more than we thought!

Cant be.....Lance Stroll is a no-hoper only there because of his daddy etc etc
lolz
Stroll isn't a no hoper compared to most drivers, he is just very average when put up against other professional drivers capable of driving an F1 car.lolz
His dad has spent an absolute fortune on giving him seat time to get to that level, far more than any of the other drivers in F1. He isn't a natural talent, he has improved a lot, but it may be he has hit his limit now.
He is capable of doing a solid job now, his driving style is still pretty rubbish, if he could stop his tendency to move the steering wheel like he is having tremors he would pick up more pace. That suggest to me he is still nervous and not on top of the car fully.

......Have a look at Senna driving......sawing at the wheel and stabbing the throttle all the way round a corner.....
Lance just sets up differently to Perez, the result is hes a little harder on tyres and this means he's that tiny bit slower.
Perez is not slow and is a very high benchmark, IMO he would do better than Bottas in the Merc and IMO Lance is stacking up ok ( not brilliant, not amazing but ok and deserves his seat so far this year) now he's settled into the team, Pierre Ghastly was struggling to put in the kind of performances in the Red Bull last year that Lance has so far this year in arguably a better car and although he's been 'demoted' nobody is gunning for him like they do Lance. His race pace and race craft is not bad at all, Qualy is improving
Everybody who makes F1 has somebody buying their seat time in one way or another so thats irrelevant too, Senna was well funded through his early career and bought a load of money with him, its not a basis for criticism. Nobody says you have to be a natural talent, plenty of drivers have admitted they weren't and had to work very hard to get anywhere.....Damon Hill for one and a finer driver you couldn't find.

I was referring to the year he spent with a dedicated team running a Williams F1 car in private testing before he signed for the race seat, no other current F1 driver has had that kind of help.
Hopefully the Stroll money was beneficial to Williams given their current situation.jsf said:

Compare to Hamilton who was funded by McLaren/Mercedes from under the age of ten and has operated in the best teams with the best equipment and the right experience for most of his life? Yeah , nobody gets that kind of help, or Max Verstappen who again has been supported financially and given the best equipment and opportunities of the right experience for most of his life. You’re right Lolol
Pre testing ban ALL the drivers would have done thousands and thousands more km in an F1 than Stroll did.
I don’t love the guy at all but I do think the grief he gets is desperately unfair. Who got Williams last podium and last Q3 spot? Etc etc he’s a decent lad and deserves more Rey than he gets imo

For me GOAT means Valentino Rossi - as great as he was I'm not convinced that title fitted Senna!
Yeah, it may have been said before this about others, but to me, the GOAT is a Charlie Cox phrase from mid 2000's MotoGP commentary on BBC, talking about Valentino Rossi.Let’s hope people don’t start calling Hamilton this name it sounds stupid.

Finally someone with common sense.
there is specific F1 thread for arguing about all things GOAT (before incurring Some Gump's wrath about noise)
