Liking the 18" wheel / tyre combo in F2.

Bodes well for better-looking F1 cars next year.
Just away to say the same, watching the F2 practice on nowTV and i thought the cars looked much smarter with the larger dia wheels.

look forward to that in F1 as will be a big change in how cars feel and work

Ah OK. I missed that. Less encouraging then.

ETA: Latifi appears to have been on Mediums, half a second off the back of the pack then?

Ill have a look, I was watching tv, and they don't show the tyre compounds that often, 5 mins!
Cant get my timing to replay, yes 0.5 off, so not bad hehe
Both had scruffy "quick" laps though as far as I could tell - Russell's best sectors were ruined by avoiding the spinning Alfa on last corner.

Not suggesting they'll be on the podium, but not as far off the back as last year - as was said; we'll find out in race sims this afternoon.

I thought Williams had been pretty candid about the fact they still expect to be the slowest team and that they'll consider the season a success if they're close enough to at least be at the back of the midfield rather than in a back-field of their own.
They were indeed. But there was always a possibility Haas might have a dud car etc.

At least this year a Williams is faster than a Haas with no brakes. Last year I'm not convinced that would have been the case. silly

There’s some gremlins in the live timing I think, it shows a soft for the fastest lap.. oh well..

Croft’s was saying a change this year for the start is that drivers control 90% of the torque.
How different is that from last year?

This is a short track with only (I think) seven corners - a two second gap here will likely translate to a three second gap at Silverstone, for instance.

Here’s best lap best sector, sector 2 requires downforce.. sector 1/3 outright power (less drag)

If that's true Williams have caught up by about a second relative to the rest of the grid still.

Normally that would be a tremendous leap forwards..

Horner continues this year, as all past years; a worthy successor to the disenguous Ecclestone.

Never knowingly speaking the truth, when ambiguity, deflection and failure to answer a direct question will suffice.

A career in politics beckons....

Latifi enjoying his Williams. Third time lucky, he might get round that corner next time!

I like Hamilton, but that lap time was a bit depressing. That's a short lap.

Just half a second quicker than last year, with a car that has had about 4 months less track and development time?

Probably about right for FP2.

The objection/clarification/excuse is typical. Was anyone else totally shocked when it was revealed that it originated from RB?

I doubt anyone had this in the 'what will the director cut away to now there are no celebs in the garage or crowds' sweepstakes...

Hamilton's garage name board.

So still no real indication of what the Redbull car do.
