That’s very good to hear. Great to see successful people give something back, congratulations Lewis.

The stuff he does to Max must be unbroadcastable

Probably wishing he had a spanner to throw!

There is a Chequered Flag podcast done in Miami on Mission 44 that has just appeared on BBC Sounds.

Well, yesterday was vintage Lewis.

I hope this is the start of a run of form. I'd almost got to the point of accepting that he is significantly past his best and, at 41, we'd only ever see occasional flashes of greatness now.

But I'm not so sure. Yesterday he chased down Verstappen, having eradicating a 6-second gap and passed him superbly, and completely outperformed Charles, who seemed a bit shellshocked.

I’ve never wavered in my belief that Lewis is still at the top of his game. He had a difficult first year at Ferrari learning a new team and a car that behaved differently to what he was used to. But the new regs have re-set the stage for everyone and he’s showing that he’s as capable as anyone.

Yesterday was vintage Lewis.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

So good from Lewis yesterday, proving beyond doubt that he still has it in spades, I just hope that the car can afford him more opportunities over the rest of the season.

He looked 10 years younger in the press pit beaming from ear to ear, even the normally (all of them) stern faced PR rep couldn't keep the smile of her face.

I’m just re-watching Lewis’ post race interview, he’s buzzing

It’s so good to see, hopefully Ferrari bring some engine upgrades to give it some more power & they could be up there

Great for the sport to see him have the odd good race.

It looked like he was driving for a 2027 contract.

Yeah, they are a long way off Merc pace, clearly on engine power alone, nowhere near.

The fun thing, though, is that Lewis seems to have a car he can work with. Seeing him close up a six-second gap yesterday was like old times.

Also lovely to see the respect between the three podium finishers.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a huge Lewis fan, followed him from the start and will probably lose interest when he retires as I've never really gelled with any of the other drivers.

It was a rough year last year and time/age are very much against him now but displays like yesterday really are sweet.

I'd love to see him win for Ferrari before the end of his career but it's going to take some doing with the pace of the Mercs this year.

Did notice yesterday in the post race interview he said he can't wait to return to this track so maybe he's hoping for another season with Ferrari?

When would possible contract talks start as I know Ollie bearman is waiting in the wings.

AAUI, he is contracted with Ferrari at least until the end of 2027.

Yes apparently he is struggling at the moment financially, living on the bread line, struggling to make ends meet so perhaps that's where his motivation comes from, nothing to do with the vastly different work environment at Ferrari this season.

You are correct. I had in mind it was a 2 year contract.
Hopefully the car will develope power wise this year.

Great result for LH there. Very happy for him! Gutted for Russel, he was putting up a hell of a fight.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer. But was fantastic to see. Hopefully we’ll see more of him hustling a Ferrari and maybe even winning a race.

I think there was something on Ted, the post-race walk, not the talks, about him liking his new 'temporary' engineer. If Ferrari decide they know better, I wonder if we might see some deterioration. But it's not something Ferrari is likely to do, it is; shoot themselves in the foot.
