So as a woman are you for or against the "cancelling" of JK Rowling for standing up for other women?
Last time I checked she wasn’t cancelled so maybe you should stop propagating the idea she was. It’s more of an issue than any actual issue with “cancelling”. In any case it’s a lazy short hand for repercussions usually used by people who are too weak of their convictions to wish to risk anything.
What would you define as cancelled? It's common for some to say you're not cancelled, just facing actions to your words/deeds. Cancelling to me is basically that though - a group trying to get you removed from being shown on media/being published/having sponsorship etc. What people who say it's not cancelling seem to mean is that cancelled = a full ban on them doing/saying anything, which to me would be a ban. Cancelling to me is more the pressure of a group to reduce someone's influence - right or left, or if the view is ok isn't part of the discussion?

I have learned from this thread and the Angela Cullen thread in the past couple of weeks that not everyone has the gift of being able to tell an obvious photoshop when they see one.
both threads indicate that the slide into an idiocracy will be far quicker than anyone anticipated

I think her stance is abhorrent. To put it in racial terms it is like her saying black women are not real women and that real women must be protected from black non-women. Because they are all sexual predators.
It just so isn't. Your comparison is fundamentally invalid, and your projection of a string of logical fallacies is ludicrous.

To try and rationalise your flawed logic - it would be more akin to someone who goes blackface and claims to be black being told they are not really black. Indeed, they would probably be accused of cultural appropriation by genuinely black people.

Completely OT though (and me observing that your line of argument is flawed does not make me racist or ant-trans before you try and play that card).

A tenner says he’s currently on his way to Australia, and we’ll see him in Melbourne on Thursday.

I wouldn't dream of it. And you assuming that I might is rather insulting.

Anyway, it was not my intent in any way to take this thread off-topic. I was asked a question and I replied to it. I'm happy to say no more on the subject.

I know, it's weird. They don't even realise he also does it at least partially to wind them up, the easily offended.

Yes and although I don't easily get offended by other people's fashion choices, this is as close as it will come.

The logo of one of the naffest brands in the world on the collar of your white shirt. what's that about ? rofl

I just hope Merc can do something incredible with the car this season so we get a chance to see him scrapping for a win.

People that dress silly for attention shouldn't be surprised when they are mocked. This is a societal norm and it really is that simple. No one here is "offended" but nice effort with the gas lighting hehe.

Interesting. How do you define that "social norm" and where does "silly" start? Any agreed boundaries?

Maybe, just maybe, it's not 'silly' and he just likes wearing different clothes to everyone else?

You have to admit, the F1 driver uniform of team-branded polo shirt, cap, plain trousers and some form of trainers is nothing if not ubiquitous. Some people don't like ubiquitous.

Is that really such a problem? I don't hear him complaining about anything people say. I strongly get the impression that he doesn't GAF.

I don't see that post as vitriolic or anything, just pokes fun.

On another note, some of Schumacher's choices were right up there:

How do you know he is dressing solely for the attention? It's not for me but I literally have zero fashion sense. Fair play to anyone having the kahunas to wear what the feck they like rather than follow the crowd. I've also read several times he supports a lot of young & upcoming designers.

I'm no fan of Rolex but maybe Jackie got given one and asked to advertise on his collar due to his long sleeves biggrin

Again no fan but looking at the price of them and crazy waiting lists I am guessing you are no marketing guru.
