I'm just sat here mystified that people are demanding a driver boycott a race....like he has to prove some sort of credentials in order to campaign for better equality.
Utterly bizarre
The same people would criticize him if he did. Just as they all screamed "it's the car!!!" before going quiet for a his masterclass in Turkey and later returning with the same comments.Utterly bizarre
Perhaps Lewis should boycott and they should put a female driver in his place now they are allowed to drive in Saudi.
He's not going to boycott, he'll say the usual along the lines that it's good F1 is here to give the media a chance to highlight the issues on a global stage which F1 gives, and also to get conversations going with the Leaders here about how they perceived because of what they do.

Indeed, perhaps so - there are far more effective methods of protesting than just a personal boycott; no-one would remember or care about who wasn't there...He's not going to boycott, he'll say the usual along the lines that it's good F1 is here to give the media a chance to highlight the issues on a global stage which F1 gives, and also to get conversations going with the Leaders here about how they perceived because of what they do.

It's amazing how some commenters are unable to see how ironic it is that they're holding Lewis to a higher standard than the rest of the drivers.
And themselves. From the way some on PH react, you'd think we were the LH topic on an Extinction Rebellion forum. To be fair though, by taking any stand at all on anything, Lewis is putting his head above the trench. JYS got the same and I'd expect any non-wdc would be slapped down pretty quickly as a sponsors nightmare if they got uppity about something.
Preventing racism and reducing climate change aren't even that controversial from a corporate POV, imagine the pile-on if he advocated same sex marriage or abortion rights for women.

Rather than looking at the Saudi GP as a time to boycott, it should be looked at as an opportunity. It's a time to engage and try to get them to see the errors in their ways. I'm sure there's several countries around the world that look to us in the UK and USA as the war-mongering bds that a lot see the Saudi's as. Where do they get their weapons from? Boycotting is on a par with spitting the dummy out - it won't see progress, quite the opposite if anything.

To be fair Lewis has put himself forward as F1's principal human rights activist.Edited by HighwayStar on Tuesday 2nd March 16:27

Many people seem to want to put the phrase “to be fair” into every sentence at the moment. It’s normally pretty harmless, just three empty words used to no effect. You have managed to actually use it incorrectly, because what you’re saying isn’t at all correct.
